India Arie and David Banner Gives Us a Great Example of Black Love in New Video "Steady Love"

If you haven't seen India Arie's new video "Steady Love" featuring David Banner, I invite you to scroll down and watch it! The chemistry between the two is undeniable and will make you fall in love with the idea of Black love all over again. The video is literally "The Truth" and has people thinking they are together or married in real life!

The "Steady Love" video was released on  Thursday, May 23rd. The song is about India finding Mr. Right and them loving each other. On his Instagram page, Banner talked about leading by example when it came to love. He said, "We talk about love but we must show our children how it looks."

According to BlackDemographic.com marital rates are lower in the United States in general but they are even lower for Blacks. "Steady Love" is a breath of fresh air that breathes new life into the idea of  Black relationships. Some of the song's lyrics express the importance of communication in relationships when India Arie says this:


"I'm his woman and he is my man
We can talk about anything
He's got nothing to hide
He's not afraid of his feelings
He's not a slave to his pride."



In 2017, the Pew Research Center  reported that Black men were more likely to marry someone of a different race or ethnic background. They said, "Black men are twice as likely as black woman to have a spouse of a different race or ethnicity." I personally have experienced a few Black men saying they don't want to date Black women, and it's sad.

We could get go into the reasons for this mentality and that would take about 200 more articles! But, I think part of the problem is the lack of positive images in the media of Black couples. "Steady Love" gives us a beautiful reminder of how Black relationships can be successful just like any other relationship!

Some fan reactions to the "Steady Love" video have been priceless. One Instagram user said, "Please make this happen or I hope this is happening !!! That's too much chemistry to be playing !!!" Another user said she didn't care, she already declared India Arie and David Banner married! I agree with her that they make a beautiful couple. Plus David Banner is so handsome!

The song and video are a classic! I can't forget to mention India Arie's natural hairstyles. She has an updo that I want to try in the near future. Virgin hair extensions were used for her styles.  Love it!

Priscilla Shirer Shares Her Natural Hair Story and Tips on IG Live!

Actress and minister of Going Beyond Ministries Priscilla Shirer shared her natural hair story and secrets on IG Live today. After receiving numerous questions about her long thick natural hair, she decided it was time to do a video. Shirer said, "I've decided that sometimes, to a woman, hair = ministry." Shirer started getting a perm at about 13 years old. During previous years, her mother would use the hot comb to straighten her hair.
