Something else I enjoy about natural hair is watching YouTube videos on styling! Whether it's something small or something kind of hard to do, it's always a joy to see how others are managing their hair. All in all, I love my kinks and pray that I can continue to have prosperous growth and even more fun with my hair! Happy to be Nappy!
1. What made you decide to go natural?
I
loved the whole natural hair movement that was going on. So, I thought
to myself, "does this creamy crack" really benefit my hair. It did not
at all. My hair was just so thin when it was relaxed at times. I decided
to just do it. I transitioned for a year and 2 months. I cut off my
relaxed ends on January 11, 2014.
2. What were your friends and loved ones' reactions to your decision?
They were not as supportive as I thought they would be. They were saying, "You're not going to go through with it! You won't last!" Still to this day some of my family members ask when
I'm going back to the perm. Ugh. Whatever.
3. What is your current hair routine? They were not as supportive as I thought they would be. They were saying, "You're not going to go through with it! You won't last!" Still to this day some of my family members ask when
I'm going back to the perm. Ugh. Whatever.
Side of Alexus' frohawk |
Uhhhh. Lol. I don't really have one. I am honestly really lazy when it comes to my hair. When I do decide to do it, I will shampoo and deep condition it. Two weeks later, I'll do a co-wash and another deep condition. I have to do better.
4. What is your favorite hairstyle?
Currently, my favorite style is the fro-hawk. Love it with my "bang" pulled down in the front.
5. What are your 3 favorite hair products?
I use Pantene's natural hair line and Garnier Fructis' leave in conditioner. I am falling in love with the Creme of Nature edge control. It's funny how those aren't really "black" hair products. Lol.

6. What is the most important thing that you have learned about going natural?
MOISTURE and FREQUENT TRIMS are a must!!!!! I had to learn the hard way when I had to get two-inches cut off because of terrible split ends! :(
7. What advice do you have for some who is thinking about going natural?
For one, do you boo-boo! Lol! Enjoy your hair. Get to know your hair. Do NOT compare your hair to the next person's natural hair. Love what God gave you! I love my kinks, no matter who doesn't. If I wake up feeling wild, my hair will reflect the same thing. Besides, people only hate what they can't have or can't do! :)
