There is a new trend where cast members of 90's TV shows join together, re-watch episodes of their shows, provide commentary, and sometimes share secrets! Check out two podcasts based on 90's Black TV Shows!
1. ReLiving Single
ReLiving Single is a YouTube podcast hosted by actresses Erika Alexander and Kim Coles where the castmates along with their guests re-watch episodes of the hit show Living Single (1993-1998) and react to them. Erika Alexander played the character Max, and Kim Coles played the funny, quirky character, Sinclair on the show. Some of the special guests included Yvette Lee Bowser, TC Carson (Kyle Barker), Queen Latifah (Khadijah James), Chip Hurd (LaVerne Hunter), and more.
2. Welcome to the Family
2. Welcome to the Family is a podcast based on the TV show Family Matters (1989-1998) on iHeartPodcasts hosted by Kellie Shanygne Williams (Laura Winslow) and Telma Hopkins (Aunt Rachel). Some of the special guests on the show include Darrius McCrary (Eddie Winslow) and Shawn Harrison (Waldo Faldo). In one episode, Hopkins shared that she was sent to the hospital after filming!
My 2 Cents
I'm loving this trend with 90's Black TV show podcasts hosted by the actual people involved in the shows. Other examples of podcasts hosted by the actors include Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald based on the Scrubs TV Show with Donald Faison and Zach Braff. There are certain 90's shows and episodes that I would like to just remember as they are. Sometimes, if there are any messy or sad incidents behind the scenes, I find myself skipping past those parts in the podcasts. There is real nostalgia associated with those shows, and sometimes I just want to leave it at that. Can you relate?
What other Black 90's TV Shows would you like to see host their own podcast?
