Mini-Twist Updo Frustration

This weekend I installed mini two-stand twists.  I used the cold wave rods to curl them, but I was not happy with my results. I made the twists a little bigger than normal, so my hair looks very scalpy.  It doesn't take much for my hair to appear that way. My hair is finer on the sides, than the top and back. The straight parts that I made in some of the areas did not help either. I've had the twists in for two days, and I'm ready to take them out. I miss my fro (yes, that fast lol )But, I need to make the best of the time spent on these things lol  So, I will keep them in for at least 5 days. I may try curling them again. This morning I pinned my hair up, into a style that I liked. I used bobby pins to create something that looked like a mini-twist puff updo. You can see the scalpy  areas in this picture.

Working with My Natural Hair in Sections

Hey everyone! This weekend I tried washing my hair in sections, and I love it! I parted (or not lol) my hair into 4 sections and clipped each section. I tried to not scrunch up my hair when washing to avoid as much tangling as possible. After I washed 1 section, I clipped it  and moved onto the next section. Afterwards, I applied Suave Naturals' Everlasting Sunshine conditioner to each section. I tried using a dye brush to saturate my hair but, I did not like using something similar to a regular brush on my hair. I tend to use a lot of conditioner, but the sectioning helped me saturate my hair better. The detangling process was also so much easier and took less time than when I washed my hair without the sections. Do you wash your hair in sections?

1Blessed Natural Hair Spotlight: Braided Bun Style DIY

This blog post is a continuance of the  "Bun" hair trend .  Here's a picture of my niece's braided bun hairstyle that was done by her aunt. The bun was achieved by using hair pins, 1 ponytail holder, hair spray, and a brush. How to Achieve the Braided Bun Hair Style 1. Gather hair into a ponytail holder (use brush and/or comb to smooth the hair) 2. Braid the hair into 1 single braid 3. Wrap the braid around the base 4. Tuck the end of the braid underneath 5. Secure the bun with bobby pins or hair pins 6. Spray hair with holding spray (if needed)

Natural Hair Product Review: Roots of Nature Butter Whip Coil Cream- Mango Oil & Cupuacu Butter

I decided to try this product because I like the Shea Butter and Green Tea Oil Strengthening Moisturizer by Softsheen Carson. I applied the Mango Oil & Cupuacu Butter after washing and conditioning my hair. I used the product before Bantu-knotting my hair, and I love it! I also use it to retwist my hair. It leaves my hair moisturized and soft. If you're using this product as a simple moisturizer and not to enhance your curls, you may not need to use a lot... A little goes a long way. I like this product better than the Shea Butter and Green Tea Oil Strengthening Moisturizer. The product's effects last longer on my hair Product: Roots of Nature Butter Whip Cream Coil Cream (Mango Oil & Cupuacu Butter) by Softsheen Carson Location: I bought this product from Rite Aid, but it is available at drugstore, grocery, beauty supply, and online stores. Price: $8.99 (but you can shop around for better deals) Ingredients: (first 5)- Aqua/Water, Glycerine Soja Oil/...

1BlessedNatural Hair Spotlight Trends: Buns

Is it me, or are there hair buns everywhere?  Hair buns have been the style of choice for many years. They have been a favorite for ballerinas. But lately, they have become higher. My sister pointed this out to me about a month ago. Instead of the bun being worn on the top back of the head, it is now being worn to the top front of the head. Last week a picture surfaced on the internet of Beyonce wearing a big high bun that consisted of medium-sized single braids. The hair bun can be a great protective style for naturals because it allows us to hide our ends. It is also versatile and can be worn with a business or casual outfit. I guess we can say that the bun is the new ponytail, and is here to stay :-)

Detangling Tools

I forgot how much the Gabriella brush works! It is really good for detangling my hair.  My hair stays tangle-free longer when I use it after a wash. I use this brush after using my long tooth comb.  I bought the brush and comb from a local dollar store.

My Bantu Knot Out

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope that you had a good day. Always remember that God is your strength and will help you through any and everything :-) In hair-related news, I've decided to try the regular Bantu knots. So, I washed, deep conditioned, detangled and installed Bantu knots. I used the Mango Oil & Cupuacu Butter Butter Whip Coil Cream by SoftSheen Carson, and I absolutely love it! I also used my water spray bottle and Coconut Oil. I will do a review soon. Here are my results:  I left the Bantu knots in my hair overnight. But, my hair was still damp in the morning :-( Although my hair was very soft, I would have liked my curls to be a bit looser. In the next post, I will show the results of my Two Strand twist, Bantu Knot out .

Braid Out with Curly Ends

Happy Friday everyone! I haven't done a braid out since I transitioned over a year ago. So, I gave my mini-twists a rest and installed medium- sized braids. I applied the Motions Wrap Lotion and rolled the ends of my hair with Cold- Wave Rods. The Motions Wrap Lotion helps to keep the definition. It also keeps my hair from shrinking from the humidity. I slept with the rods in my hair overnight. In the morning, I applied Coconut Oil to my braids and carefully unraveled them.
