Update: Day 2 and 3 Curlformers Hair | Bantu Knot-Out Tutorial

Happy Monday, my blessed naturals, I hope you all are having a great start to your week. Yesterday was Day 2 of my Curlformers curls. They looked okay at the beginning of the day considering the fact that I did not sleep with a bonnet. I only slept on a satin pillow case. By the end of yesterday, my curls looked more like cotton balls . Since my hair was still stretched, I decided to do a two-stand twist, Bantu knot-out. The only products I applied to my hair were oil and water. Since the Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion was still in my hair, the water reactivated it. I parted my hair in medium sections, applied water, oil (to my ends), two-strand twisted, and wrapped the hair around into a Bantu knot. The knots were kept in my hair overnight. I've included a YouTube video tutorial below. In the morning, I applied coconut oil to my fingers, unraveled, and fluffed my hair. I used a wide-tooth comb to lift my roots and hide my parts. My hair was parted on the side and...

Church Hair: Bantu Knot, Twist Out with Bang

Happy Sunday everyone! On Friday, I couldn't take it any longer, so I washed my hair. It didn't take me as long as usual. It took me about 2 hours. I washed my hair in 4 sections and applied conditioner to each section. I tried finger detangling my hair only. The process went smoothly. Saturday I wore my hair in a twist out, but my afro was not stretched enough to my liking. Last night, I put m hair in 8 sections, two strand twisted, and bantu-knotted them.  This morning I attempted another bang style with a regular plastic headband, and I was pleased :-) I had been thinking about flat ironing my hair, but I was too chicken to go through with it lol. I'm not about to be dealing with heat damage. I've dealt with that before . The Mini- Twist Style Challenge was fun because I was able to really challenge and push myself to work with my hair. I didn't like the last bang style too much, but I like the one in the picture above :-) God is good. Also, October 3rd...

DIY Two-Strand Twist Bantu Knot Out

If you've read my last my post, then you know that I've been in a Bantu knot mood lol. However, I was not pleased with the tightness of my curls. Items Needed 1. big-tooth comb 2. bobby pins ( I love the brown ones because they are smooth and do not pull my hair) 3.moisturizer( I used the Mango Oil & Cupuacu Butter (Butter Whip Coil Cream) by Softsheen Carson) 4. Coconut Oil Two-Strand Twist Bantu Knot Out 1. Part your hair in small sections. 2. Apply products (moisturizer, then oil). 3. Two-strand twist the section of hair. 4. Hold the base of the twist as your twirl the twist around the base in a circle. 5. Secure with a bobby pin. Unraveling the Knots 1. Apply Coconut Oil to your fingers and rub it over your Two-Strand Bantu knots. 2. Carefully unravel your twists. 3. You may pull them apart, according to the way that you would lik...

My Bantu Knot Out

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope that you had a good day. Always remember that God is your strength and will help you through any and everything :-) In hair-related news, I've decided to try the regular Bantu knots. So, I washed, deep conditioned, detangled and installed Bantu knots. I used the Mango Oil & Cupuacu Butter Butter Whip Coil Cream by SoftSheen Carson, and I absolutely love it! I also used my water spray bottle and Coconut Oil. I will do a review soon. Here are my results:  I left the Bantu knots in my hair overnight. But, my hair was still damp in the morning :-( Although my hair was very soft, I would have liked my curls to be a bit looser. In the next post, I will show the results of my Two Strand twist, Bantu Knot out .

8 Months Natural: Two Strand Twist Bantu Knot Out

Hey Everyone, Today is my 8 month natural hair anniversary. I did my big chop on March 3, 2011. I do not do length checks often, but I may do one soon. After applying a leave in conditioner, I two-strand twisted my hair into medium sized twists, and then wrapped each twist around to form a bantu knot. I secured the knot with a hair pin. In the morning, I removed the twists... Here are my results: My hair had more volume with the bantu-knot out (on top of two strand twists), than the twist out alone. I also forgot to mention that I co-washed my hair, and it was damp. After reading a post by Barbara Naturally Speaking , I've realized that my hair doesn't shrink up as much when I co-wash my hair.  I co-washed with V05's "Champagne Kiss" conditioner and then sat under the heating cap (with the conditioner in my hair) for deep conditioning. I used to think that all V05 Conditioners were the same, but they are not. I tried one of the Moisture Milk ...
