Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals, In January, I told you all about some hair accessories that my sister gave me. Today, I wore one of the black barrettes. The only problem I had was that they blended in with the color of my hair.. So, I decided to add a little color to the barrettes by applying nail polish. It's a simple, cute, and quick fix. Items Needed 1. Your preferred hair accessory: clip or barrette 2. Your favorite color of nail polish 3. paper towel 4. disposable face mask (optional)- I like to use a face mask whenever I use nail polish to prevent breathing the fumes. 1. Natural hair updo adorned with Cowrie Shell. Hi everyone, I've been receiving some questions about how to put Cowrie Shells in your hair. Hopefully this post will help many of you with the accessory. Cowrie Shells 2. hair pins 3. snag-proof elastic bands Using Elastic Bands to Apply Cowrie Shell 1. Squeeze the elastic band between your thumb and index finger. 2. Loop one side of the elastic band through the middle of the shell. 3. Put your index finger through the two looped sides, and put shell on desired section of hair *This method is good if you want to put the Cowrie shells on locs.  Using Hair Pins to Apply Cowrie Shell 1.  Take 1 hair pin and put one prong through the middle of the shell. Happy Friday everyone, I have been making my own Shea Butter mixture slowly, over the past 2 months lol. I used Shea Butter when I had a T.W.A.. But, I haven't used it on my hair much, lately. I had a bunch of ingredients that I wanted to try to mix together, so I figured why not try a Shea Butter mixture. I have read many websites that have claimed that Shea Butter (by itself) is a good moisturizer for your hair. In my experience Shea Butter has only worked in sealing the moisture in my hair. If I applied Shea Butter to my hair, it would look shiny but would dry out and become brittle. So, I would say that Shea Butter is a good sealant. If you apply water or a moisturizer on your hair, and then apply the Shea Butter on top, you would get good results.  I used an 8oz container of raw Shea Butter mixed with Olive Oil for my mixture. If you've read my last my post, then you know that I've been in a Bantu knot mood lol. However, I was not pleased with the tightness of my curls. I also wanted more curl definition, so I decided to do Two-Strand twist, Bantu knots. Here are the materials and steps. Items Needed 1. big-tooth comb 2. bobby pins ( I love the brown ones because they are smooth and do not pull my hair) 3.moisturizer( I used the Mango Oil & Cupuacu Butter (Butter Whip Coil Cream) by Softsheen Carson) 4. Coconut Oil Two-Strand Twist Bantu Knot Out 1. Part your hair in small sections. 2. Apply products (moisturizer,then oil). 3. Two-strand twist the section of hair. 4. Hold the base of the twist as your twirl the twist around the base in a circle. 5. Secure with a bobby pin. Unraveling the Knots 1. Always remember that God is your strength and will help you through any and everything :-) In hair-related news, I've decided to try the regular Bantu knots. So, I washed, deep conditioned, detangled and installed Bantu knots. I used the Mango Oil & Cupuacu Butter Butter Whip Coil Cream by SoftSheen Carson, and I absolutely love it! I also used my water spray bottle and Coconut Oil. I will do a review soon. Here are my results:  I left the Bantu knots in my hair overnight. But, my hair was still damp in the morning :-( Although my hair was very soft, I would have liked my curls to be a bit looser. In the next post, I will show the results of my Two Strand twist, Bantu Knot out .
