Hey, my blessed naturals, This week's reunion show of Cutting It: in the ATL was different. Instead of having all of the girls together at the same time, Maja  (with her tablet) had one-on-one interviews with each of them. @1BlessedNatural its not what I was expecting. 1BlessedNatural- 1BN Fitness Update Hey, my blessed naturals! You can't have an unhealthy body and expect for your hair to flourish. In January , I promised you all that I would update you on my fitness challenge.  Last post , I told you all I run/jog 30 minutes a day, 3-5 days a week. Due to changes in my schedule and the hot as Hades heat outside, I've now moved my workout indoors and shortened it. 1BlessedNatural: This is a pic of the match 2 weeks ago between Venus and Serena Williams. Both of them are in great shape! The Workouts If you have Comcast Cable, then you might be familiar with their On Demand fitness category. My workouts consist of 2 sets of the high impact 5 minute Dance Express workouts by Kendra Kemerley. I've also added 7.5 minutes of the Cardio Hip Hop routine. 1BlessedNatural: Protective Styling Break: Puff with Bang Hey, my blessed naturals! Last week, I took a small break from protective styling and put my hair in a puff with a bang. My hair was banded to stretch it beforehand. Since I've been doing a lot of protective styling, my hair is a lot thicker and healthier. Because it's been ridiculously hot in the south, I only kept my hair out for about five days before cornrowing it back up again. 1BlessedNatural: My Review of the Cutting It: in the ATL Season Finale (photo cred: WE tv) Did last night's season finale of Cutting It: in the ATL not end like it was the Mushiya Show or nah? LaKenya has a party to celebrate the opening of her new salon, and the ladies act out. The episode begins with LaKenya in her new salon suite. Maja and Beautii come over to check it out. Maja comes bearing gifts of bundles from her hair line .Beautii comes bearing her hate for the fact that LaKenya is starting off in a suite. Everyone has to start off somewhere. My Nieces' Reactions to the Curly Kids Coloring Books Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! Back in May, I told you all about the Curly Kids Coloring Book and did an interview with the author, Akira Byrd. I loved the idea of the coloring book so much that I purchased 2 of them for my nieces Big Sister Natural and Little Sister Natural .They received them this weekend.    Their Reactions Both of my nieces were really excited when I gave them their Curly Kids Coloring Books. Little Sister Natural was so excited that she ran from the kitchen to the living room! The eye-catching front cover of the book really made the girls smile, because they were able to relate to them. When I asked Big Sister Natural what she liked about her coloring book, she said she liked all of the natural styles. She even tried making the characters into characters from her favorite cartoons. 1BlessedNatural: Aflac Commercial Features Woman with Natural Hair as a Bird's Nest Happy Sunday, my blessed naturals, I just saw Aflac's "Duck Salon" commercial which features a Black woman whose hair is made into a bird's nest. After I finished watching the commercial, I was in complete shock and thought, "What did I just watch?" In my opinion, it implies that natural hair is like a bird's nest. The ad originally premiered on Dancing With The Stars' finale on May 19th of this year. The offensive ad begins with the Aflac duck giving a white woman with straight hair a half mohawk style. The next woman's hair is made into paper dolls at the top. Both of the women stare in the mirror in horror at their messed up styles. Next, there are two woman watching the duck work. One woman who is also white has straight black hair which looks like it's just been washed. She questions the Black woman next to her about her previous comments...

This week's episode 8 called "Let Them Eat Cake" of Cutting It: in the ATL was the one that made everyone's mouth drop! It begins where we left off last week with Dedra telling her client she found Maja's mugshot and record for supposedly writing bad checks. Straight craziness! Meanwhile, Maja is shopping with her attorney friend and says she still wants a baby. Next, Mushiya announces her new line of natural hair extensions to her staff. My favorite line is when she says, "Call me nappy. I'm okay with it." Yes! She vows that her new line of hair is her secret weapon and will take her competitors down. Okay girl! 1BlessedNatural: What's in My Natural Hair Spray Bottles Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend! I had to make another moisturizing spritz for my protective style. Plus, some of you might already know that I also have one for my seborrheic dermatitis, and I use fingertip sprayer and regular spray bottles. Here's what's in them: Spray Bottle for Protective Style     Water + Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion + Coconut Oil = (clear bottle above) 1. Water : I already had a 3.5 oz spray bottle filled with water.  2. Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion : Added about a dime size amount to the water 3. Coconut oil : a little less than a dime size amount After adding the ingredients, I shake the bottle up to mix them a bit.   When... 4th of July Clip and Ribbons Natural Hairstyle Happy 4th of July, my blessed naturals! Today, I am wearing my hair in a 4th of July themed natural hair style! Last night, I did the rubber band cornrow and twist updo . This time, I used 1 1/2 feet long white ribbon and a flower clip I wore on this day in 2013 . The style was done on stretched hair and took about 3.5 hours to complete. 1BlessedNatural: This is how my hair looked after removing the bands . My hair is almost back to normal from moisture overload . 1BlessedNatural: the ribbon twisted on one side 1. After twisting the ribbon with the twists on one side of my hair, the twists were bought to the back and tucked under to create a small bun. Bobby pins were used to secure it. Dedra comes to Maja's house to talk to her about their beef, and Maja calls her out on the fact that she threw money in Beautii's face. I'm happy she said it! Still, Dedra was not trying to acknowledge her wrongdoing. Plus, she was upset that Maja didn't approach her at the gallery. After Maja points out that she is the "common denominator" in a lot of the drama between the girls, it is a wrap for their conversation. Dedra says she really doesn't care about anything else, just if she got hurt during her fight with Beautii and was asked to leave. How do you come to someone's house with drama?
