Coiled Edges: Rubber Band Cornrow Twist and Puff Style with Flower Clip

1BlessedNatural - Coiled Edges: Rubber Band Cornrow Twists and Puff Style with Flower Clip Happy Memorial Day, my blessed naturals! Thank you to all of you who have served in the armed forces. Yesterday, I had to find a natural style fast! My hair was in bands from the night before. I side-parted my hair, left out my edges, and created 4 curvy cornrow twists from my hairline going back towards my crown area, and 2 going straight down on the side . They were secured with rubber bands, and my edges were finger coiled again. I added a flower clip for decoration. If you’re going to try this style, I would suggest not making your rubber bands too tight. After my hair was cornrowed, I put the bands about one inch from my scalp before twisting each section. 1BlessedNatural: right side of rubber band twist and puff style with flower clip 1BlessedNatural: left side What style are you rocking this Memorial Day? Moved Up to the Next Size of Sectioning Clips

1BlessedNatura: Moved Up to the Next Size of Sectioning Clips Hey, my blessed naturals! Saturday, I went to the beauty supply store to get some new sectioning clips, because my hair has outgrown the smaller ones. I purchased the roller clamps by Salon Care. I also use the thin metal clips. I paid a little under $5.00 for a pack of 12 clamps. Even though, they're used for rollers, I use them for styling overall. I like them because they are bigger and allow you to clip together large sections of hair. Plus, the colors are cute. Check them out below! Do you use sectioning clips when styling your natural hair? New Go-To Natural Hairstyle: Two French Braids Half-Up

New Go-To Natural Hairstyle: French Braids Half-Up Hey, my blessed naturals, Friday, I took out my rubber band twist and cornrow style , but I kept the finger coils in. Then, I did a horizontal part in the middle of my hair, French braided both sides, and banana clippe d the braids in the middle. The bottom section was left hanging and voila! That’s my new go-to style lol. My hair’s been long overdue for a protein treatment, so I did one Sunday. That was after my normal routine of doing an ACV rinse , washing, and deep conditioning my hair. Sometimes, I completely forget about doing protein treatments until I notice that my hair is getting brittle and dry quickly. It’s like the light bulb finally goes on lol.  What is your go-to natural hairstyle? Related Articles: New Video: Using Banana Clips to Preserve My Twist Out                    ...

Protective Style Challenge: Another Rubber Band Twist and Cornrow Updo with Finger Coiled Edges

1BlessedNatural: Protective Style Challenge: Another Rubber Band Twist and Cornrow Updo  with Finger Coiled Edges Hey, my blessed naturals, I was tired of doing my hair, so I decided to try doing another rubber band twist and cornrow updo   style with coiled edges. The challenging thing about this style is that it was done based on the problem areas of my hair. For one thing, I need my edges lol. I try not to braid them too tight, but it doesn’t take much for them to come out. The second thing is that I have a thinned spot at the top of my hair due to a perm (from 5 years ago), traction alopecia, and seborrheic dermatitis . I put a lot of stress on the spot by keeping the same part in the middle when I style my hair. Recently, I've avoided parting and putting much stress on that area to allow the hair to grow back. I also do scalp massages. Before styling my hair, the first thing I did was leave out about one inch of hair around my edges. I also parted a...

GooGoo's Cute Updos on the Mary Mary Show's Season Finale

1BlessedNatural: GooGoo's Cute Updos on the Mary Mary Show's Season Finale Is it or me, or was GooGoo Atkins rocking some cute updos on this week's season finale of the Mary Mary show on WE tv? The two styles that really caught my attention were the double crown braids and what looked like a twisted bun updo. The stylist and reality star also posted both looks on Instagram. The caption of the twisted bun updo was this: Hair @joshthestylist | makeup @rebekahaladdin. Her stylist did a good job! I would also like to know what product was used to smooth her edges down lol. Atkins is also natural, and has worn her TWA on the show several times. I must say that I love the way she styles her sisters, Erica and Tina. The stylist also host a show on YouTube called Go Ru Style. 1BN Kids: Broken Bones, Surgery, and Hair Loss

1BN Kids: Broken Bones, Surgery, and Hair Loss -Photo credit: Denise P.S. via Visualhunt / CC BY-ND Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! I wanted to talk to you all about broken bones, surgery, and hair loss. About 3 months ago, Little Sister Natural fell and broke her arm. As a result, she had to get surgery and wear a cast for about 6 weeks. Recently, we noticed that her hair broke off, especially around the edges. Plus it would get frizzy after a short time. If you’ve been following LSN’s hair journey, then you know that her hair doesn’t  frizz up easily. She also has some bald patches in the middle of her hair. I figured all of her body’s nutrients were going to the healing of her arm, but it’s much more than that. So, I wanted to share with you what I found after doing some research. Little Sister Natural is experiencing a condition called telogen effluvium due to her broken arm and surgery. Our hair goes through growth and resting phases.Telogen re...

Natural Hairstyle: Curvy Twists with Puff

1BlessedNatural - Natural Hairstyle: Curvy Twists with Puff  Happy Tuesday, my blessed naturals, I hope you all had a great weekend. Saturday night, I removed the bands from my hair and created some curvy flat twists in the front of my head with a side part. I was making it up as I went along. Can’t you tell? Lol. ECO Style r gel was used around my edges. Bobby pins and hair pins were used to secure the twists. The rest of my hair was put into a puff, and I added a decorative clip to the band around it. If you read my last post about pin curling my mini twists, then you know I trimmed my ends. I’ve said this before, but I just love the way my hair feels after removing damaged or weathered ends. It feels super soft and stays moisturized longer. Here’s some before and after pics of Saturday’s style: 1BlessedNatural: Making the curvy flat twists 1BlessedNatural: Side flat twist- Yes... making it up as I went a long lol 1BlessedNatural: All done...
