Mini Braids Style Challenge: Updo with Headband Style # 2

Happy Thursday everyone!  Yesterday, I said I was going to fore-go the headbands, but I ended up wearing one today lol. The good thing is the material of the headband is very soft, and it doesn't pull my edges. Last night, I applied Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie to my mini braids (no extensions) and installed Cold Wave Rod Curlers for a rod set.  This morning, I removed the rollers and pinned my hair up (using hair pins). The back didn't look too fancy lol, but it was fine for me. Before I did the updo, I tried to style my braids by leaving them a loose, but it was really not working lol. The braids still looked sparse. That's what happens when you install small braids in fine hair. I figured the curls would make a difference... Ha! I was wrong. It was a natural hair disaster, lol. So, I went along with updo! Thank God for hair pins! Have you ever had a natural hair disaster? What style did you try?

Beanie and Beads Hairstyle and Update

Hey my naturals! It has been a week since I first installed my beaded mini-twists . I have enjoyed having the beads in, but I'm getting bored with them. Plus, I do not want to keep the elastic bands in my hair for a long time. My method of spraying my hair and beaded ends with water mixed with oil has kept my hair from drying out. After I remove the beads, I will be washing my twists and using Cold Wave/ Perm Rods to curl my hair. This time, I'm going to try using the Cantu Curl Activator to set my curls, instead of using the Motions Wrap lotion. What product do you use on your hair for your rod sets?

Braid Out with Curly Ends

Happy Friday everyone! I haven't done a braid out since I transitioned over a year ago. So, I gave my mini-twists a rest and installed medium- sized braids. I applied the Motions Wrap Lotion and rolled the ends of my hair with Cold- Wave Rods. The Motions Wrap Lotion helps to keep the definition. It also keeps my hair from shrinking from the humidity. I slept with the rods in my hair overnight. In the morning, I applied Coconut Oil to my braids and carefully unraveled them.

Two-Strand Twist Updos and God's Lessons

Happy Sunday everyone! Last week, I two-strand twisted my hair with the intention of doing a repeat mini two-strand twist rod set , but that did not happen lol. I did 3 things incorrectly. When I twisted my hair, I made a straight part down the middle of my hair to the back. The second thing was that I rolled my twists in the wrong direction and had too many twists on one of the rods. So, when I took out the rods, my hair was separated and curled in the wrong direction. Even though the rod-set didn't work out, my hair was in the perfect shape to create a mini two-strand updo :-) I twisted the two sections up the back of my hair and secured them with bobby pins. The twists in the front were left hanging. For the second style, I twisted my hair up into two ponytails to the crown of my head. I love this style because it is a great protective style. I let the steam from the shower get into my hair and then I apply coconut oil t...

Day 6 with Two-Strand Twists Rod Set

Overnight Maintenance for Two-Strand Twist Rod-Set

Happy Sunday everyone,  I hope that everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend :-) "This is the day that the Lord has made and we shall rejoice and be glad in it".- Psalm 118:24 If you have read my last post, then you know that I am currently rocking a two-strand twist rod set, and I love it! It is a great protective style. The weather has been rainy and humid all week. But, my hair still looks fine, thank God. I wear a hair net overnight. I still apply a moisturizer and oil to my hair at night and in the morning.  I can sleep on my curls without messing them up. If you are wearing a style that you do not want to mess up while sleeping, you should consider sleeping on a travel pillow.  Yes, a travel pillow! LOL. I read about this idea in another blog, and it works.

Two-Strand Twists Rod Set Results

Hey everyone, Yesterday, I did a rod set on my mini twists. After removing the rods , I applied a small amount of Coconut Oil to my fingers and rubbed it through my hair and ends. I pulled the curls apart to create my desired style. I'm very happy with the results. Thank God I found another style because I was starting to get bored lol.
