My Review of the "See You Yesterday" Netflix Movie (photo cred: IMDB.com) Rating: TV-MA [SPOILER ALERT!] The movie See You Yesterday by producer Spike Lee and director Stefon Bristol   on Netflix is a must-see! It's about two Black teens named Claudette "C.J." Walker and Sebastian Thomas who go back in time to prevent the death of Claudette's brother who was killed by police. There are several reasons why I love the movie and I wanted talk about them in a sort of review.  The first reason is that it focuses on STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Math). Claudette (Eden Duncan-Smith) and Sebastian (Dante Crichlow) are teen scientists determined to use their talents to pay their way through college. It reminded me a lot of the character Shuri in the movie Black Panther was technologically savvy.   Positive images like Shuri, Sebastian, and Claudette need to be seen by Black people, especially Black teens. Dealing with grief on Mother's day is not an easy task. I was debating with myself on whether I wanted to write this post but hopefully, it will help someone. I wanted to start off by saying that it is okay if you're not okay on Mother's Day. I lost my mother back in 2006. So, the day is not easy for me. If you've lost a child, you might be struggling with Mother's Day grief as well. Here are 5 ways that help me get through the day: 1. Celebrate All the Mom Figures in My Life I use the day to let the mom figures in my life like my sisters and 2nd grandmother know that I love and appreciate them.  2. Remember the Good Times I like to think about all of the good times my mother and I had. Reflecting on the things she taught me makes me smile. Author and former  Empire actress, Grace Byers, doesn't want the scars on her shoulder to be covered up or edited. The 34-year-old posted an Instagram photo of herself wearing a blue toga dress with small keloids on her shoulder. Byers  reason for not wanting her keloids removed in photos is simple: They are a reminder. She said, "they're real. they're mine. i earned them. [sic]  And they will always be there to remind me of that period in my life when my shoulder was dislocating every month, and that I made it all the way through." The "Level Up" singer's hairstyles were a part of two looks she sported for the event including an emerald dress and a black jumpsuit. This year's theme for the MET Gala was "Camp: Notes on Fashion." Other celebrities who wore natural hairstyles included Danai Gurira and Lupita . While she was getting ready for the gala, Ciara announced on social media that the song "Level Up" was certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as Gold.
