Hey everyone! In my spare time, I like to watch natural hair videos. But, I had no idea that my niece was taking notes lol. After washing and conditioning her hair, my niece J and I plaited her hair in medium sized braids. Then she gathered the braids into two ponytails and made two big braids. preparing her hair for the braid out After she finished the braids, she sprayed her hair with the Olive Oil by Organic Root Stimulator. At the beginning of my natural hair journey, I tried a sample of the Milk Protein & Olive Oil Leave-In Treatment and liked it. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bought this product. I applied it after washing my hair. I sat under a heating cap for about 15 minutes. I kept the product on my hair for an additional 15 minutes or more.  My hair did not feel moisturized and soft. Beaded flat twist natural hairstyle Happy Saturday everyone! I have to say that God is good! I am blessed to be alive... I have been feel adventurous and wanting to put beads in my hair lol. I know... little girl status lol. Two weeks ago, I bought a pack of black, clear, and white beads from my local beauty supply store. I made diagonal flat twists in the front (bang) area of my hair.  Then I parted two vertical sections above my ear, and flat twisted them. Use a bobby pin to put the beads in your hair. Then, I hooked a small bobby pin to the middle of the twist and pulled it through the beads. Some bead packs come with a hook to help put them in your hair. Next, I took the end of the twists and pinned them to the top of my hair (not too tight). You can also flat twist you hair in an upward direction, instead of pinning them. The fro part of my hair had already been bantu-knotted, so I put on a headband and was good to go :-)

Happy Election Day everyone! By the end of today, I hope that everyone will have voted for the next president of the United States! In hair news, I've been wearing mini twists for the past two weeks. I wore it in a puff with a headband today. This past weekend, I took them out, washed, deep conditioned, moisturized, sealed, and stretched my hair. I tried the Milk Protein & Olive Oil Really Deep Conditioning Treatment , and   I will be doing a review in another post. The cold snap has caused my hair to be very dry. So, I might start using Shea Butter mixed with oil as a sealant after applying a moisturizer.  What natural hairstyle are you wearing today?

a tree uprooted by Hurricane Sandy in North Jersey To God be the Glory! This week has been a very difficult week, but I still want to say, "God is good" On Monday, October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy rushed into the East Coast with wind, rain, and trouble. I lost power electricity the night of the storm. The next day, I found the land littered with uprooted trees and down power lines. Trees leaned against houses and cars. Roof shingles and aluminum siding littered the sidewalks and lawns. But, the devastation in my immediate area could not match that in other towns where homes were shifted off their foundation and found in the ocean or in another remote place. There were also homes burned down and lives lost. All I can do is thank God and know that it could have been my home or the livesof my loved ones lost, along with my own. The day after we lost power, my loved one and I walked around the neighborhood looking for an open store to get more food. We found two stores...
