Mini-Twist, Retwist Update on Day 6

Happy Friday everyone! I have left my twists alone to do as they please... all except drying out lol. My twists have settled into a style that I like. They have become puffy from the shower steam. The twists in the front have settled into a little side bang. I still use my Vitamin Oil and Roots of Nature products. The picture below  is an example of what happens when you pull your hair to one side while twisting... lesson learned! lol  It's been 6 days since the retwist and I am getting antsy. So, I may take them out and rock a twist-out for a few days or not lol. We shall see!

Mini-Two Strand Twists Redone & Organix Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo Review

Happy Monday everyone,     I washed, deep conditioned, stretched, and retwisted my hair on Saturday. I tried using the Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo by Organix in the pretty pink and gold bottle. The claim on the back said, "Unique blend of Natural & Sulfate Free Surfactants for rejuvenated shine."  So, I figured I would give it a try. But, my hair was still very dry after washing. Maybe I missed something :-( lol Anyway, at least the shampoo had a very nice fragrance.       This time  my twists took less time than last time. They took about 6 hours to complete, as opposed to the 7 hours (last time). I attempted to twist them into a style by parting my hair on the side, of the top part of my hair. At first, I wasn't too thrilled with my results. So, I pinned the top part for a day and took it out.

My Edges Are Growing Back

My edges now ' My edges in September, after removing micro-braids Happy Snowy Saturday, (depending on where you are) lol I can admit that I have been a headband junky, and my hairline has paid the consequence for it.  However, nothing can beat the damage caused by the micro braids that I had in September.  I'm happy to report that my edges are finally growing back in. The mini-twists are helping because they are not braided tight, and I haven't been wearing headbands with them.

Mini-Twist, Twist-Out

Happy Friday everyone! Today I took out my mini-twists. Here is a picture of my twist out (for JenJen). I applied Mega Care Vitamin E oil to my twists before unraveling them. The whole process took about 45 minutes. I had to thoroughly check my hair to make sure that I had taken them all out. Otherwise, detangling will be even more of a challenge lol

Mini-Twists Maintenance

Hey everyone, Friday is almost here! Thank God for that!  I have been wearing mini two-strand twists for almost two weeks now. I will be taking them out tomorrow. Every night, I apply Vitamin E Oil by MegaCare to my twists, and I cover my hair with a satin bonnet at night. At about Day 5, my twists started to frizz up in the front, so I retwisted them. My hair was spritzed with water about twice a week. I also used the Shea Butter & Green Tea Moistrizer by Roots of Nature (Softsheen Carson). My twists shrunk up a bit with the water, but they stretched out a bit when I applied the Oil. I love these twists though, because they are low maintenance and look nice.     Styling My Twists I love the idea of being able to braid or twist my hair into a style and keep it. I am happy  with the fact that I don't have to pay anyone to get a fresh style. I was using long bobby pins to hold my hair into the style that I wanted. But, I began getting frustrated because t...

Mini Two-Strand Twists on Natural vs.Transitioning Hair

Hey everyone, I hope you are enjoying your evening. When I did my twists, it made me think of the time that I did them when I was transitioning. I enjoyed creating my twists as a natural more than I did as a transitioner .  When I was a transitioner, my two-strand twists were thin and stringy. The positive side was that my hair was long enough to do an updo. I kept the twists in for two days and took them out.  However, as a natural my twists are curly, full, and healthy looking ; they look like kinky twists up close. They were fun for me to create because I liked seeing them curl up.  I have had them in for 4 days now. My twists are a bit frizzy from the misty rain, but I am going to try and keep them in for another week.

Finally Did My Mini Two-Strand Twists

Happy Monday everyone! I've been trying to do mini-twists for awhile now, but did not have the time . Soooo, today I decided to make time :-D I washed and banded my hair. Then I blowdryed it using the "Cool" setting. But, my hair was a bit damp when I started twisting it. I used the Shea Butter and Green Tea Oil Moisturizer by Softsheen Carson and Grape Seed Oil. I worked with my hair in the sections that were banded, as opposed to me taking all of the bands out and making new sections. The twists took about 7 hours to complete. Special recognition to Slimwavy for the hair inspiration :-) Her twists are fab!

1BlessedNatural Spotlight Presents Amel Larrieux

We all may know Amel Larrieux from the group "Groove Theory". Although, the group parted ways, Amel continued making new music. She is not only a music icon, but she is also a natural hair icon. Here is a video from the beautiful Ms. Larrieux herself called "Get Up". The song was released quite a while ago, but it is still one of my favorite songs. Enjoy!

10 Months Natural!

During my transitioning period My big chop! 10 months natural! January 3, 2012 was my 10 month natural hair anniversary. Time sure does fly! I have learned a lot about my hair, and I am still learning. Discovering the beauty in natural hair is a gift from God, just like natural hair itself :-) - 1BlessedNatural

Mini-Twists Trial and Talk

I will be doing some mini-twists soon. So, I decided to do a test lol, after washing my hair. Eventhough my parts were large from finger parting, I was still happy with the results. I started twisting with damp hair. Shea Butter & Green Tea Oil Moisturizer from Softsheen Carson (see review here) was used as my moisturizer, and I applied Shea Butter mixed with Olive Oil was my sealant. I wanted to keep twisting my hair, but I didn't have time :-) One day I will! lol

1BlessedNatural Experience: My Verdict On Using a Petrolatum Product

Happy New Year everyone! I hope that you all had a great holiday, and I wish you many blessings for the new year! So, if you read my last post , then you saw that I tried using the Softee Coconut Oil Hair and Scalp Conditioner as a sealant (see pic above). I am happy with my results. I applied the KeraCare Conditioning Hair Dress and then applied the product by Softee. My hair stayed moisturized and soft throughout the week. The only issue that I had was that my hair was very greasy the next morning because I used too much of the product. By the end of the first day, my hair was fine. As a result of my little experiment, petrolatum products are better sealants than Shea Butter for me. However, I still love to use Shea Butter. So, I will probably alternate between the two depending on the weather.
