I should have posted this picture sooner. But, I wanted to show you guys how the micro braids pulled out my edges. They are thin and bald in some areas. Lesson learned... If I ever get extensions again, I will not get micro braids. I only kept the braids in for 3 weeks. You can imagine if I had left them in longer.

Happy Thursday everyone! I just wanted to share one of my tips that I learned from my grandmother when I was a kid. We use combs, brushes, picks, clips and everything in our hair. They can pick up a lot of oil and dirt. So, I usually take a small amount of shampoo and clean my combs, brushes, and clips. You can also use a mild soap.

I had an interesting experience today. There was a woman that actually inspired me while transitioning. She had already done a big chop. She walked up to me and complimented me on my hair. When I told the woman that she inspired me on my natural hair journey, her face lit up, and she responded, "Well, praise God for that". :-)

Hey everyone, I hope that you are enjoying your Friday :-) I was getting bored with wearing the twist outs. So, I decided to try the braided headband style inspired by Tiashauntee 's post. I really should have did a twist out on the back part of my hair, but I was being lazy :-p.

Where: I found the KERACARE Conditioning Creme Hairdress at my local beauty supply store. Price: $7.99 Ingredients (First 5): Aqua/Water/Eau, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Isopropyl, Myristate, Cera Alba/Beeswax.... The first thing that caught my eye was the sticker on the top of the container that said "No Parabens." So, I decided to give it a try. I've used this product for my twist outs. It is best used sparingly ;you only need a small amount on your finger because it goes a long way. This point is stressed on the back. I would not recommend using this product daily. My hair became very oily around day 3 of using it for my twist-out. This product is good to use (as a moisturizer) while your hair is wet. Consistency - light & fluffy creme Fragrance- Pleasant  Grade: A-

I seemed to have forgotten the most important ingredient for moisturizing my hair. I have been twisting my hair at night and removing the twists in the morning. I usually use the Organics Olive-Oil Leave-In Conditioner by Africa's Best. It has a runny consistency, and the main ingredient is water. My hair started to feel really dry, even after I applied coconut oil on top of the leave-in. I remembered, thank God :-) to spray my hair with a fine mist of water after I finished my twists. The next day my hair felt soft and moisturized. You do learn something new every day :-)                                                                  ...

 Good morning everyone,  I hope that all is well with you. This post is inspired by " Accents for your locs... loc jewlry" by Naturaleza.  This year has been a big year for accessories, in general. Almost every women department/store includes accessories in their inventory. With stores like Old Navy and Payless stepping up their accessories, you have no choice but to join in the fun! Forever 21 has nice ones also. My favorite hair accessories are headbands and flower clips. This brings me to ask the question, "What is your favorite hair accessory? If you've read the previous post, then you know that I have removed my braids. I kept the braids in for only 3 weeks. I washed, detangled, deep conditioned and two strand twisted my hair after removing the micro braids. "And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me  both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight". Acts 1:7-9

I've only made it to 3 weeks ladies lol. I took my micro braids out. I do not think that I will do extensions again... My best friend helped me remove them. I cut the extensions short. My friend showed me a technique to remove the knots by using a fingernail clipper. I saturated the braids with one of the VO5's Milk Moisture conditioners and unraveled them.   my hair with the VO5 conditioner After removing my braids, I deep conditioned my hair and made a protein treatment. I mixed 2 eggs mixed with Olive Oil and applied it to my hair, on top of my conditioner. I let it stay on for about 10-15 minutes and shampooed it out. At first, I tried to rinse it with cold water. But you could still see some of the egg whites in my hair (ilk) lol. So, I shampooed it. I applied a leave in, Coconut Oil, and Shea Butter before two strand twisting my hair for a twist out. I will post pics soon of the results.

I had to re-do some of my braids around my edges and the back of my neck. So, I decided to do a quick length check. My hair is little over 2  almost 3 inches long in the picture. Please keep in mind that I trimmed my hair in July.

    I saw the "Milk Protein & Olive Oil" Leave-In Treatment by Sofn'free a few times while shopping at Walmart. But, I didn't want to buy it until I read the reviews. One of my friends gave me a sample package, and I tried it... The product is also available as a spray I applied the product to my hair after washing a deep conditioning my hair. I was cruising the aisles of one of my favorite department stores and stumbled upon this cute package of goodies by On 10 called "Green Glam to Go". It included a small canvas bag and green tea lip gloss. I paid $2.99. The lip gloss was pretty good. The purpose stated on the back of the box was for "Sunscreen". It has a green tea scent to it. The product kept my lips moisturized. I will try using it in the winter. Check out the cute little bag canvas... It has a snap button on the inside. I have seen this product on Ebay . I think that it's a cute idea. It was a well spent $2.99 :-) lol                                                               ...

After washing my braids This past week, I washed my braids. I was using the Motions Oil Sheen spray because I didn't have any other spray= bad move :-(. There was so much build up, and my scalp was itchy. I brought the African Royale braid spray and that works really well for me. I washed my hair (in the shower) with the Creme of Nature Red Clover & Aloe Soothing Shampoo. I massaged the shampoo on my edges and in between my parts without disturbing the braids too much. I only had the braids in for a little over a week, so they were still tight. I massaged the shampoo on the extensions while holding the ends avoid my hair pulling too much. Then, I rinsed my hair. I let the water beat between my parts to remove any shampoo or and/or buildup. Afterwards, I applied Garnier Sleek & Shine conditioner to my hair (which started to feel very soft) ; I put my hair in  ponytail and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
