1BlessedNatural Feature: Donna Murry

1BlessedNatural Feature: Donna Murray Donna Murray is a lovely natural who lives in Mississippi and works as a technician. Ms. Murry decided to go natural because relaxers only made her psoriasis worse.  After transitioning for 1 year, she cut off her permed hair and hasn't looked back! One of the first things I noticed about Donna's hair was the top of it was a honey blonde color. The 37-year-old said she hasn't had any problems with breakage or damage due to coloring, because she keeps her hair moisturized with leave-in conditioner. "That's the only difference is you've got to keep it moisturized, but you have to do that anyway [with natural hair]." When I asked Donna Murry what her family and friends thought about her decision to go natural, she said her mother didn't like it in the beginning. "She was like why did I mess up my hair, and my friend guy wanted me to keep perming it", she said. Ms. Murry loves shea butte...

1BlessedNatural Spotlight: Danai Gurira's Natural Hair

1BlessedNatural Spotlight: Danai Gurira's Natural Hair (photo cred: Instagram) Hey, my blessed naturals! This post is long overdue! Much love to Danai Gurira who plays Michonne on The Walking Dead , for rocking her 'fro to the last Talking Dead premiere. You all know Michonne is one of my favorite characters on the show! Even though Gurira wears a dreadlocked wig for her character, she rocks some cute natural hairstyles off the air too! She posted some pics of herself rocking a short haircut with a side part on Instagram. Other hairstyles included coils and different textured goodness that can also be seen on the 38-year old's social media accounts. Not only does the wig Danai Gurira wears help her to become Michonne, but it's also a protective style. The one complaint I hear the most when watching and conducting interviews with actresses and other entertainers is they don't like the frequent styling for shows, because it can cause breakag...

Another Cornrow Design with Loc Jewelry and Fro

1BlessedNatural: Another Cornrow Design with Loc Jewelry and Fro Happy Thursday, my blessed naturals! I'm back with another natural hairstyle! Tuesday, I did a new cornrow design at the front of my head and left the back out. I did squiggly parts on each side and 4 cornrows each. After applying one piece of loc jewelry to two of the braids on each side, I braided the cornrows together, rolled them up, and bobby pinned them. As always, my hair was stretched using the banding method.  Here's more pictures: 1BlessedNatural: front view 1BlessedNatural: #tbt 2014 Eritrean Inspired Hairstyle: Front Cornrows, Twists, and Puff What natural hairstyle are you wearing today?
