GooGoo's Cute Updos on the Mary Mary Show's Season Finale

1BlessedNatural: GooGoo's Cute Updos on the Mary Mary Show's Season Finale Is it or me, or was GooGoo Atkins rocking some cute updos on this week's season finale of the Mary Mary show on WE tv? The two styles that really caught my attention were the double crown braids and what looked like a twisted bun updo. The stylist and reality star also posted both looks on Instagram. The caption of the twisted bun updo was this: Hair @joshthestylist | makeup @rebekahaladdin. Her stylist did a good job! I would also like to know what product was used to smooth her edges down lol. Atkins is also natural, and has worn her TWA on the show several times. I must say that I love the way she styles her sisters, Erica and Tina. The stylist also host a show on YouTube called Go Ru Style. Wearing High Natural Hairstyles for Long Periods of Time

Wearing High Natural Hairstyles for Long Periods of Time Happy Monday, my blessed naturals, The one question I get asked a lot is if it is okay to wear a high natural hairstyle like a puff, ponytail, bun etc. all the time. In my experience, I think it's good to wear those styles for 2 or 3 days at a time, but you should give your hair a break in between to avoid Traction Alopecia and breakage around your edges and nape. If you are going to wear a puff, do not make it too tight and take the band out before sleeping. In the past, I've tried keeping the band in my hair, moisturizing, and sealing my hair at night. This method worked for awhile, but I had to remove it completely after 5-7 days. When I wear my hair in an updo (with a band) with gel, I usually keep the style in for no more than 5 days. 1BlessedNatural- puff with band For the past few days, my hair has been in the flat twisted and banded style . I do not like to wear my hair pulled up in the bac...

Two-Strand Twist Updos and God's Lessons

Happy Sunday everyone! Last week, I two-strand twisted my hair with the intention of doing a repeat mini two-strand twist rod set , but that did not happen lol. I did 3 things incorrectly. When I twisted my hair, I made a straight part down the middle of my hair to the back. The second thing was that I rolled my twists in the wrong direction and had too many twists on one of the rods. So, when I took out the rods, my hair was separated and curled in the wrong direction. Even though the rod-set didn't work out, my hair was in the perfect shape to create a mini two-strand updo :-) I twisted the two sections up the back of my hair and secured them with bobby pins. The twists in the front were left hanging. For the second style, I twisted my hair up into two ponytails to the crown of my head. I love this style because it is a great protective style. I let the steam from the shower get into my hair and then I apply coconut oil t...
