I had to make another moisturizing spritz for my protective style. Plus, some of you might already know that I also have one for my seborrheic dermatitis, and I use fingertip sprayer and regular spray bottles. Here's what's in them: Spray Bottle for Protective Style     Water + Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion + Coconut Oil = (clear bottle above) 1. Water : I already had a 3.5 oz spray bottle filled with water.  2. Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion : Added about a dime size amount to the water 3. 1BlessedNatural- Update: ACV and Seborrheic Dermatitis Update-  Here is a picture of my min twists a few days after doing an ACV rinse and washing. Happy Monday, my blessed naturals, Last month, I told you that Apple Cider Vinegar rinses helped to treat my seborrheic dermatitis. It greatly reduced my itching, but I still had issues with the flakes on my scalp. As a result, I decided to add tea tree oil to my ACV rinse. Now, the ingredients include water, ACV, and tea tree oil. The solution lifts the flakes and also treats my scalp! Thank God! Also, I decided to do 2 ACV rinses on my wash day because my scalp often itches after shampooing. After I wash my conditioner out, I use a small spray bottle with ACV and water only to spray on my scalp. After leaving the mixture on my scalp for 15-30 minutes, I rinse it off with cool water. Hair Update: Seborrheic Dermatitis, Hair Growth, etc. Hi, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a great Saturday. Last month, I told you I was using the Generic Brand for Derma-Smoothe/FS for Seborrheic Dermatitis. I also started Ciclopirox shampoo (by prescription) which is used to treat Seborrheic Dermatitis. Thank God, the oil and shampoo have greatly improved the condition of my scalp. It does not itch as much as it did before the treatments. I've been keeping my hair in the puff with front flat twists style . I washed my hair yesterday and banded it. This morning, I removed the bands and took the picture above. "Update on Seborrheic Dermatitis: Derma-Smoothe/FS" *Correction 7/23/2014- The product that I tried was Fluocinolone Acetonide Topical Oil which is the g eneric version of Derma-Smoothe F/S. Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! Back in December of last year, I made you all aware that I was battling Seborrheic Dermatitis . Seborrheic Dermatitis is a chronic scalp condition where your scalp produces a large amount of natural oil (sebum). As a result, big wax-like flakes or dandruff form. It can cause your scalp to be red and itchy. I've tried several natural remedies including Tea-Tree Oil, Tea-Tree Oil shampoos, oils, and regular honey. In hair related news, it is day 10 of my mini twist, protective hairstyle. My twists have become a bit frizzy, but they still look okay to rock. I will take them out this week. I'm trying to hold out until the weekend. My scalp is dry, but I've stopped leaving oils on my scalp due to the the seborrheic dermatitis . I usually apply Tea Tree Oil to my scalp 15-20 minutes before washing it. That has helped a lot. What natural hairstyle are you rocking today? Hi everyone, I have been making some progress in my protein overload and Seborrheic Dermatitis plight. Thank God! Thank you all for all of your suggestions on combating both conditions. I am on week 2 of a dermatologist prescribed foam. The dermatologist also prescribed a shampoo and oil, but I wanted to try some natural remedies first. I found that some items that may have been good to treat Seborrheic Dermatitis were not good to use on my hair due to the protein overload and vice versa. Last week, I applied Castor Oil to my scalp (especially on the healing areas), and it lessened the itching. Because it is a thick oil, I usually use it as pre-poo. I tried using it on my hair as a sealant, but it was too greasy. It left my hair dry underneath the coating. Some articles that I have read stated that Castor Oil has protein in it. I've found myself scratching my scalp so much that it has been scabbing over in places. Yesterday, I decided to go to the dermatologist, and she diagnosed me with Seborrheic Dermatitis. Seborrheic Dermatitis is a chronic scalp condition where your scalp overproduces oil (sebum), and becomes itchy, flaky, and red. The scales are often difficult to remove. This explains why I have a difficult time cleansing my scalp. My dermatologists stated that the condition is common, especially in African American women.
