(raises hand!). The actress wore a backwards French braid, frohawk updo to the 46th Annual Image Awards held on Friday, February 9th. I love this style on her! She wore a simila r updo to the 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards. Parris was among a handful of actresses who wore natural hairstyles to this years Image Awards including Tracee Ellis Ross ( Girlfriends and Blackish), Ava DuVernay ( Selma director) and Yara Shahidi ( Blackish ). 1BlessedNatural: Yaya DaCosta and Kimberly Elise Rock Their Natural Hairdos  on Instagram ( photo ) Recently, actress and model Yaya DaCosta posted a beautiful picture of herself and fellow actress Kimberly Elise rocking their natural hairstyles on Instagram .The two attended Lifetime's premiere of  the Whitney movie 2 weeks ago. DaCosta, who stars as the late great Whitney Houston rocked a side updo. Elise, who starred in movies like Set It Off, John Q, and Diary of a Mad Black Woman rocked a bang with a puff decorated by a scarf. I thought both ladies were gorgeous! The film is about a woman who finds a deranged man on her doorstep. In the movie, Henson's below-the-shoulder curls frame her face really well. The actress wears her curls parted on the side and hanging loose. In another style, Henson wears the top portion of her hair pulled back and leaves the bottom portion to hang loose. One of the characters "Michonne" is played by Danai Gurira who is no stranger to television. She has also performed in the popular television show Law & Order . Her resume includes television, film, and theater. Gurira has also graduated with a MFA from NYU. When I first saw Gurira, she reminded me of Lauryn Hill. On the show, The Walking Dead Gurira rocks large locs. In real life, she rocks a short beautiful natural cut.
