Apple Cider Vinegar for Wigs and Weave Extension Tangles

1BlessedNatural: Apple Cider Vinegar for Wig and Weave Extension Tangles Updated: 4/26/2017 - Synthetic Hair and ACV experiment results here ! Hey, my blessed naturals! My sister "C" is still using wigs as her protective style, and she makes her own units. Two weeks ago, I suggested that she do an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse for the tangles in her human hair wigs and  extensions. She wanted me to tell you all that she loves it! Here's how she conditions her wigs: How to Condition (Human Hair) Wigs/Extensions and Conditions for Less Tangles 1. Soak wig in bowl of ACV and water for 2-3 hours.  2. Rinse ACV out of wigs/extensions with water 3. Co-wash hair.  4. Let hair air dry. It takes a wig about 1 day to fully dry if you do not use a fan on it.  You may be wondering if an ACV rinse works on synthetic hair. Updated 4/26/2017: You can see my results here . My sister and I have never tried it on synthetic hair wigs/extensions. One of the re...

Fine Natural Hair: Single Strand Knots, Mini Twists, and Trimming My Ends

1BlessedNatural- Fine Natural Hair: Single Strand Knots, Mini Twists, and Trimming My Ends Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram , then you might know that I spent Super Bowl Sunday doing mini two-strand twists yesterday. I installed the twists because my ends needed a trim badly. Although I didn't have many split ends, I had a lot of single strand knots (SSKs) and straight ends. Because my strands are fine, curly, and longer, they're starting to tangle a lot more. When my hair sheds, the shed hair tangles around my healthy strands. My hair has always sledded a lot, even when I was a child. If I try to pull the shed hair out of my hair by finger detangling, the hair pulls and snaps my healthy strands, resulting in straight ends. As a result, I have to use a comb for detangling at least one time during the week, other than wash day. The last trimming of my ends was in October 2014 . This time, I didn't have to cut off...

4 Tips to Avoid Fine Natural Hair Tangles and Single Strand Knots

1BlessedNatural: 4 Tips to Avoid Fine Natural Hair Tangle and Single Strand Knots   Hey, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a great Monday. If you have fine, thick, and kinky/curly natural hair (like me), then you know how difficult it is to keep tangles to a minimum. If you want to avoid single strand knots or SSKs, here are 3 tips that worked for me: 1. Keep your hair stretched. When you keep your hair stretched, your strands are less likely to wrap around themselves to create tangles. Styles like twists, braids, puffs, curl-sets, and buns allow you to keep your hair stretched. Some naturals also use heat styling, but it can be risky. I would suggest doing your homework before using heat on your hair. This way you can avoid damage. If you would like to stretch your hair without heat, another option would be to band it. 2. Keep your hair moisturized. It is very important to keep your natural hair moisturized in general. If you have fine strands, it...

Hair Update : Keeping It Healthy and Stretched

I haven't given you all a hair update in a while. I'm glad to report that I am retaining my length. My curls have come back since I cut the heat damaged strands. I've continued my nightly routine of moisturizing, sealing, and twisting my hair. My current challenge for myself is to continue, as long as possible without needing to trim my ends. I have learned that I currently cannot wear my hair in regular Bantu knots. I have to do two-strand twist, pin curls instead, because my hair is fine and tangles easily. I also have to be careful when installing flat twists because my hair will tangle if I do not keep consistent sections when picking up the hair. My hair thrives better when it's stretched. It is also best if I do not sleep without twisting or banding my hair. As a result, I have been experimenting with different stretching styles. The style above was created using two banana clips: one at the top and one at the bottom. I split the hair in the middle o...
