1BlessedNatural: Little Girls' Natural Hair Halloween Styles Hey, my blessed naturals! I hope you all had a great Halloween! Yesterday, Big and Little Sister Natural wore their hair in some cute styles for the day. 9-Year- old, big sis was a bumblebee. She rocked a medium-size fishtail braid going across the front of her head and a banded ponytail ( banding method ) in the back. She wore an antenna headband in the part between her braid and ponytail. Little Sister Natural was a princess. Some of you may remember a previous post I did on her hair when she had the same style, but was 1 or 2 years old. She is now 4 years old, and her hair has grown sooo much since then! She wore her hair in 2 big twist-out ponytails with 1 ball ponytail holder on each one. God has blessed their mom to do all of that hair! That's for sure! I have been noticing the increase in the amount of pomades on the natural hair market. I was wondering a possible reason why this could be happening, when many pomades (especially commercial ones) contain petroleum jelly. As a natural, I already know that petroleum (or petrolatum) jelly is not my friend because it can clog the pores of my scalp. But, not all pomades contain this ingredient.They may also contain wax. The idea of not using pomades on my scalp is far from the one instilled in me and most African Americans as a kid to "grease my scalp". The good thing is that there are other possible uses for pomades that contain petroleum jelly, and I will discuss it a little later. Dictionary.com defines the word "pomade" as being "a scented ointment, especially one used for the scalp or dressing the hair." The most important word is "dressing". I liked this style better than the two french braids . This weekend I might take my twists out and do a twist out.

Happy Saturday everyone, Today I styled my mini twists into two big french braids. But, I wasn't thrilled about this style.

I have been doing twist outs all week.  I love the level of moisture in my hair by the end of the week lol Those of you with questions about hair type... I don't know my "hair type". I gave up on the "hair typing" a long time ago. I have many different textures of hair on my head. I am slowly but surely learning how to care for my hair.

I had an interesting experience today. There was a woman that actually inspired me while transitioning. She had already done a big chop. She walked up to me and complimented me on my hair. When I told the woman that she inspired me on my natural hair journey, her face lit up, and she responded, "Well, praise God for that". :-)

 Good morning everyone,  I hope that all is well with you. This post is inspired by " Accents for your locs... loc jewlry" by Naturaleza.  This year has been a big year for accessories, in general. Almost every women department/store includes accessories in their inventory. With stores like Old Navy and Payless stepping up their accessories, you have no choice but to join in the fun! Forever 21 has nice ones also. My favorite hair accessories are headbands and flower clips. This brings me to ask the question, "What is your favorite hair accessory?   I needed a hair accessory fast for my TWA! I tried my small satin head band, and then the one in the picture above. I was hesitant about using stretchy (Lycra) headband because it pulls your hair. I rubbed coconut oil around my hair where the headband would rest. I was happy with the look. But, I don't think I will be using them too much.
