1BlessedNatural Spotlight: Danai Gurira's Natural Hair

1BlessedNatural Spotlight: Danai Gurira's Natural Hair (photo cred: Instagram) Hey, my blessed naturals! This post is long overdue! Much love to Danai Gurira who plays Michonne on The Walking Dead , for rocking her 'fro to the last Talking Dead premiere. You all know Michonne is one of my favorite characters on the show! Even though Gurira wears a dreadlocked wig for her character, she rocks some cute natural hairstyles off the air too! She posted some pics of herself rocking a short haircut with a side part on Instagram. Other hairstyles included coils and different textured goodness that can also be seen on the 38-year old's social media accounts. Not only does the wig Danai Gurira wears help her to become Michonne, but it's also a protective style. The one complaint I hear the most when watching and conducting interviews with actresses and other entertainers is they don't like the frequent styling for shows, because it can cause breakag...

Sonequa Martin-Green and Yvette Nicole Brown Gives Us Natural Hair Inspiration on Talking Dead

1BlessedNatural: Sonequa  Martin-Green and Yvette Nicole Brown Gives Us Natural Hair Inspiration on Talking Dead (photo cred: Talking Dead/AMC) Actresses, Sonequa Martin-Green and Yvette Nicole Brown both wore cute natural hairstyles on last night's episode of AMC's Talking Dead ! They gave me that "natural girls unite" feeling. The two actresses joined The Walking Dead producer, Denise Huth on the couch. Green's hair was in a thick and pretty twist-out with a part on the side, and Brown wore her hair in a big side puff. The two lovely naturals were on the show to give some insight into the characters of 'Walking Dead.' Also, this was not the first time either of them rocked their natural hair on the show. Yvette Nicole Brown always gives amazing commentaries on 'Walking Dead.' She's always ready with her notebook full of shouts at the TV, and she catches things that we might've missed. For instance, I think she made a go...

Review of the 10 Inch Michonne Deluxe Action Figure - The Walking Dead

Product: Michonne Deluxe Action Figure from The Walking Dead Size: 10in./25 cm Price: approximately $30.00 Manufacturer: McFarlane Toys Place: Walmart and Amazon Prime Items Included: Outfit, sword, sheath, and (2) arms 1BlessedNatural: a look inside the box. Check out her lox!   My Review  This past weekend, I saw the 10 inch Michonne Deluxe Action Figure ( The Walking Dead ) at Walmart, and I had to buy it! I don't usually buy action figures, but I loved the detail on Michonne. On the show, Michonne is a sword-swinging fighter with a good heart. She is a powerful character, and the toy captured that really well. The box says that the figure was created based on a complete 3D scan of her (Danai Gurira). You can see the wrinkles in her clothes, details on her boots, and facial expression. She is very lifelike. Even her dreads are elaborate, and I love her headband! If you are looking to get someone a Christmas or birthday gift and they'...

Sonequa Martin-Green's Mohawk on Talking Dead!

1BlessedNatural: Sonequa Martin-Green's Mohawk on Talking Dead! Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! Last night, 'Walking Dead' actress Sonequa Martin-Green guest starred on Talking Dead and she looked fabulous! Green appeared alongside host Chris Hardwick and guests Christian Serratos , and Paul F. Tompkins. The actress who plays "Sasha" on 'Walking Dead' wore a side mohawk. The right side of her head had two cornrows going around to the back. The rest of her loosely curled black hair (which appeared to be a sewn-in) hung off to the left at chin level. I was glad to see her rocking a textured hairstyle this time! I thought the style was really cute! She also wore a sheer and solid striped, black lace top and black pants.  Green revealed to the audience that she was 8 months pregnant! Christian Serratos, who plays "Rosita" on 'Walking Dead' commented that her weight was all in her stomach, and I agree! LOL. When asked abou...

1BlessedNatural YouTube video Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all had a great weekend. I know most of my fellow "Walking Dead" fans were going through withdrawal yesterday, LOL. The show will return in October. We will survive! I've been watching "Helix"on SyFy and "Resurrection" on ABC. Check out those shows if you haven't already! They may hold you over until "Walking Dead" returns. In hair related news, I have uploaded a new YouTube video tutorial for my " Front and Back Flat Twists with Puff " hairstyle! I love the song in the video! It's called "Blessin' in Your Lesson" by Isaac Carree and Le'Andria Johnson. It's one of those songs that speaks to you; it reminds us that God has a plan for our lives. There is a reason for all of the good and bad times, and we can take something from all of it. The link to the purchase the song is at the bottom of this page. I also left t...

Two-strand twist, pin curl out style by 1 BlessedNatural Happy Monday my blessed naturals!  I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and weekend! If you are a " Walking Dead " fan, last night may have been one of the best episodes for you (smile). The writers for the show have done a very good job!  #teamWalkingDead lol.  In hair-related news, I removed my mini two-strand twists on Friday. My hair was finger detangled, moisturized, and sealed.  I've been rocking a chunky two-strand twist, pin curl out for the past couple of days. I plan to wash my hair today. It's always funny how my hair seems to look the best when I need a wash, lol. Thank God, my hair is almost back to normal from the protein overload . This week, I may be able to start using my products with protein in them. The decision will be made after I wash my hair. Sonequa Martin-Green's Natural Hairstyle on "Talking Dead"

Last night's "Talking Dead" episode proved to be a real treat for the natural hair community when actress, Sonequa Martin-Green appeared on camera rocking a beautiful new style. The front of the "Walking Dead" star's hair appeared to be parted on the side and flat twisted from the bang area into a bun. Martin-Green, who plays the character "Sasha" on "Walking Dead", wore a long sleeve, Army green top and red lipstick which contrasted well with the greenery in the background. During her interview, Martin-Green explained that she stays in character even after the cameras are rolling. Check out more of her interview on the "Talking Dead" website !
