1BlessedNatural: Finger coils in 3.5 Hours Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! Many of you know that it can take me anywhere from 3-8 hours to do finger coils , depending on the size. In the past, I finger parted my hair in small sections to keep it neat. This weekend, I parted my hair in bigger rows. I used EcoStyler Gel.   Altogether, it took me 3.5 hours to finish my hair. Some of them started to puff up at the roots, but I'm happy with my results! "La Capresse Des Colonies" by Charles Henri Joseph Cordier at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! Last weekend, I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art (a.k.a. "The Met") with my family. We were on our way out of the museum when my brother said, "Look! There's Lauryn Hill." I turned around to find this beautiful bronze bust of a Black woman with short locs. She was not Lauryn Hill, but she looked a lot like her. The tribal woman bust was called "La Capresse Des Colonies" and was sculpted by artist Charles-Henri- Joseph Cordier (1927-1905).  The details of the woman's features were very elaborate and life-like. The woman wore a facial expression of being tired but still smiling through it. She wore a black flower in the back of her hair.  She wore a hat or scarf on the back part of her hair, leaving the locs in the front exposed. They were parted on the side and left to hang. Hey everyone! I found a couple of photos of my finger coils when I was about 5 months natural. Finger coils were my favorite style. However, when my hair got longer than a few inches I had to stop doing them because my hair would tangle and lock. Have you done finger coils?

My finger coils are now 1 week old. They actually look better at this time, than when they were shorter. After a couple of days, I apply coconut oil to them. Today, I spritz them with water and applied Grape Seed Oil.

Good afternoon my naturals! Today, I finger coiled my hair. They took about 4 1/2 hours to complete, which is a lot less than my normal 6-7 hours lol. When I create the coils, I usually do them by parting the sections with my finger. This time, I parted my hair from ear to ear. Then I parted the sections of my hair in small rows. This technique cut down the time. I also stood in the mirror the whole time instead of sitting on the couch lol. I applied water, leave in conditioner, Shea Butter mixed with Olive Oil, and Eco Styler Gel and twisted the hair between my thumb and index finger. The last time that I've created these was the beginning of August. My hair has grown a lot. I had a bit of difficulty twisting my ends because I have not adjusted to doing finger coils with my current length.I may keep the finger coils in for a week and a half. All Done! Thank God!

Coil Out Results Hey Everyone, After leaving my finger coils in for a week. I decided to pull them a part for a coil out. I rubbed olive oil on my hair and fingers before separating the strands. Here's my results!

Finger Coils on TWA (protective style) Ok, so I have been doing finger coils every week for the past month. I love the fact that they last a long time. I sleep on a satin pillow case, and it doesn't disturb the finger coils much. Mine usually last for about a week. After the third day, I rub olive oil in my hands, through my parts and twists, especially the ends.  I've decided to do them smaller than my first time. I had a hard time twisting my hair because the back has really small curls (from the Garnier Fructis ) that were hard to pick up. I had to stretch my hair a bit, using butterfly clips (pic in the last post). I used a water bottle, Shea butter, and gel (Eco Styler Olive Oil mixed with Hawaiian Silky Activator Gel) to create the look. The style took me about 4 hours to finish. Have you tried doing your own finger coils?

Hey everyone! I hope that you are enjoying your week :-) I started getting bored with my TWA. I wanted twists or finger coils without visiting the salon. So, I started watching YouTube videos. I realized the process was simple. So, I gave it a shot.... After I washed and deep conditioned my hair, I applied a leave-in conditioner. I did a test coil with just Eco-Styler gel. But, it wasn't heavy enough to hold my twists. This style actually took me five hours lol. I wasn't sure of the pattern that I wanted in the front & I took my time. Next time, it will probably take an hour or so... I parted each section with my finger and... I used the following products: Water Shea Butter Eco-Styler Olive Oil Gel Hawaiian Silky Activator Gel Then, I twirled the hair around my index finger finger. You can also use a Rat Tail comb also. I prefer to do finger coils because they are faster for me. Although they weren't perfect, I was happy with the results :-...
