She was dressed in a sleeveless denim dress by Tory Burch. Her matching, shoes, bag, and sunglasses were by Prada. Talk about style! Last year, Kerry Washington wore her natural hair out on the red carpet of the Emmys . We can expect to see her in the final season of Scandal on October 5th at 9:00pm. 1BlessedNatural: Amandla Stenberg Wears Grey Extension Braid-Out to Women in Film Awards (photo cred: Instagram ) Actress Amandla Stenberg turned heads with her grey extension braid-out on Tuesday at the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles. The 16-year-old's braided extensions were unraveled up until about 2 inches from her scalp and cut to her shoulders. I thought the style looked cute! It looked like she was preparing to take out her braids, but decided to rock them! I think this will definitely start a trend, especially among teens. Earlier this month, Stenberg, who is natural went with Jaden Smith to prom. She was also wearing her grey braids at that time, but they were waist length. It's good to see  a lot more Black actresses stepping out of the box when it comes to hairstyles on the red carpet. Zendaya Coleman's faux locs and Lupita Nyong'o cornrows are two examples. 1BlessedNatural: Twist-Out on Braid-Out Hairstyle Hey, my blessed naturals,  Monday night, I did medium, pin curl   two-strand twists on my braid-out hair . I used Aunt Jackie's Curl La La and coconut oil. This morning, I unraveled them. Because I had some Zum Grapefruit Oil by Indigo Wild available, I applied that to my fingers beforehand. I love the smell of it! The bottle says it's Shea Butter Massage and Body Oil, but it works fine on my hair. After removing my twists, I fluffed my hair out and added a headband. 1BlessedNatural: Braids and Braid-Out Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a great evening. My hair has been really dry due to the cold temperatures. My plan was to keep my hair in braids as my protective style, but I forgot how braids can make my hair look sparse. So, I ended up removing them this morning for a defined braid-out. The products I used were the Curls Creme Brule Whipped Curl Cream and 100% Coconut Oil on wet hair. I put my hair in medium size braids and twisted the ends. Afterwards, I created two french braids, rolled the ends, and pinned them in the back. My hair was allowed to dry overnight. In the morning, I unraveled the braids and put on a headband. This is the result of my braid-out. My hair didn't keep the bend. It was a bit stiff.. This afternoon I cut about 2 1/2-3 inches of my hair off. Heat damage is no joke. My hair and heat doesn't mix lol... lesson learned.I re-washed my hair and used Organic Root Stimulator's Hair Mayonnaise as my deep conditioner and two-strand twist/pin curled my hair. I might wear a twist out tomorrow. Starting over, or almost all over stinks but I'd rather my hair be short and healthy than long and unhealthy. Also, when I was washing my hair it took awhile to get the heat protectant off of my strands. I had to apply shampoo about 4 times before I could get a good lather and hair to revert back to the curls.

Thursday I co-washed my hair to remove the wrap lotion from the rollerset. My hair was softer, but t probably will be even better when I shampoo it. I did a two-strand bantu knot out. I liked the definition in the picture above. Lately, I have been really trying to keep my tangles to a minimum, and I figured I would share what I have learned. Detangle Properly You may use your fingers, wide-tooth comb, or a brush. I usually detangle my hair while it is wet with conditioner or shampoo. I go through section by section slowly from root to tip. I was using a Gabriela (Denman-like) brush every time. But I think that started to put too much stress on my strands, so I use it once in a while now.  Keep Your Hair Stretched Keeping you hair stretched is a good way to keep your strands from wrapping around each other and tangling. ...
