Little Girl Cut Off Doll's Hair to Go Natural

1BlessedNatural: Little Girl Cut Off Doll's Hair to Go Natural (photo cred: Facebook) Sunday, Brittany Jones got a big surprise when she saw that her daughter had cut off all of her Princess Tiana doll's hair. When Jones asked why she did it, the little girl replied 'she went natural.' Mom said she was speechless and gave the doll back to her. Hilarious! Jones shared the photo of the doll on Facebook. It sounds like the little girl may have watched YouTube videos of people doing their Big Chop, or maybe Jones herself performed one(smile). Either way, her daughter had that process down pat! It is clear she sees the beauty in natural hair, and that is an awesome thing! Good job, Mom! Please tell your daughter that I said Princess Tiana looks good with her new do! I asked my daughter what happened to Tiana's hair, and she said "she went natural." Posted by Brit...

1BN Kids: Little Girls' Natural Hair Halloween Styles

1BlessedNatural: Little Girls' Natural Hair Halloween Styles Hey, my blessed naturals! I hope you all had a great Halloween! Yesterday, Big and Little Sister Natural wore their hair in some cute styles for the day. 9-Year- old, big sis was a bumblebee. She rocked a medium-size fishtail braid going across the front of her head and a banded ponytail ( banding method ) in the back. She wore an antenna headband in the part between her braid and ponytail. Little Sister Natural was a princess. Some of you may remember a previous post I did on her hair when she had the same style, but was 1 or 2 years old. She is now 4 years old, and her hair has grown sooo much since then! She wore her hair in 2 big twist-out ponytails with 1 ball ponytail holder on each one. God has blessed their mom to do all of that hair! That's for sure! LOL Here are some pics: 1BlessedNatural: side view-  Big Sister Natural's fishtail braid across head with banded ponytail 1Bl...

Your Own Tip in the Tip Jar

tip jar (photo courtesy of Flickr- ( Eric in DUB ) license Happy Sunday everyone!  Happy Father's Day to all of the dads! I hope  you all are doing well. Today, I wanted to talk about putting your own tip in the tip jar. Yesterday, one of my close "friend girls" (as my sister would say) and I went to an ice cream parlor. The server seemed to be a  polite young man who looked like he was about 14 or 15 years old. After we finished eating our ice cream, we asked for the check. The amount owed was a little over $8.00. So, I gave the young man a $10.00 bill and waited for my change. He walked over to the tip jar and dropped my change into it. My friend said, "Well, he got his tip!" After we got outside, I told my friend that the young man reminded me of a couple of photos that had been circulating around the Internet. The photos are drawings of a man (who is supposed to represent Jesus) kneeling down on one knee, holding a big teddy bear with ...

1BlessedNatural Spotlight: 1940s Photo of Little Girl with Puffy Braids

Circa 1943 photo of little girl with puffy braids, natural hair (photo courtesy of Flickr- John Atherton ( gbaku ) under CC BY-SA 2.0 Happy Friday everyone! Yes! We've made it through the week, lol! Thank God! Today, I want to show you all another photo I saw on Flickr which features a little African girl with puffy braids. The photo was said to be taken around 1943 and I absolutely love it. In the photo, the little girl's hair appears to be braided softly, and then banded on the ends.  The photo reminds me a lot of my grandmother. When I was a child, my grandmother used to press (hot comb) my natural hair. Because my strands were fine, my braids and twists would appear to be thin when my hair was straightened. I remember my grandmother wondering how other parents got their child's hair to puff up into thick twists and braids like the little girl's hair in the photo above. It's funny to now know that the answer was simple, but not at the time. She could ha...

Little Girl Videobombs Newscast

Happy Friday everyone! This week, an NBC Chicago newscast featuring reporter, Mary Ann Ahern being videobombed by a cute little girl dancing, went viral. Several media outlets have reported that the girl in the video's name is Janiyah Rush, who was said to be near the school on that day in June. Reporter, Mary Ann Ahern who was doing a June report on schools closing in the area, had a good laugh and tweeted: The little girl in the video appears to be wearing a puff too :-) Check out the video! Little Girl with Cornrows

Happy Sunday everyone! Here's a picture of another one of my niece's hair. You can check out the colored bands hairstyle . I posted about her hair a while back.  Like CL , she hates to get her hair done, lol.  Her mom did her hair in the current style. I like her cornrow hairstyle because it's cute and simple. Two-Strand Twists with Beads Adult Hairstyle

Hey everyone, In November, I did an afro style with beads. I've been wanting to do twists with beads, but I did not have patience until I saw MahoganyKnots' video " Beady Bead ". I jumped into the time machine and became a little girl again lol. Hair Preparation  I washed and deep conditioned my hair. Then, I applied Giovanni's Leave-In Conditioner , Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie , and Coconut Oil to my hair. After applying the products, I banded and two-strand twisted my hair.   Installing the Beads I purchased 4 packs of black, white, and clear beads . I also brought snag-proof elastic bands . Snag-proof elastic bands have a shiny coating as opposed to regular rubber bands that are dry. I purchased them from Dealz for $1.00 (500-pack). I used a bobby pin and the bead wan to install the beads. *WARNING*- Please check the beads for snags because they may break your hair. All edges should be smooth. It will save you the time and...

Little Girl with Ponytails

Happy Sunday everyone! This is a picture of my niece's ponytails. Her mom uses Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Moisturizer on her curls. Her hair is very soft and thick. Little Girl with Two Strand Twists

Here is a picture of my 2 year old niece's two strand twists. Her mom applied Organic Root Stimulator's Olive Oil Moisturizer and used rubber bands at the base and ends of the twists. It is a relatively quick hair style.

1BlessedNatural Experience: Homage to My Favorite Doll

I was about 4 years old when my grandmother gave her to me. She was brown skin with a round nose and two brown ponytails of yarn. She wore a blue jumper and a yellow short sleeve shirt that was outlined in red. Her sneakers stuck out from the bottom of her pants legs like headlights. She looked like me... She was me....Her name was Huggy Bean, and she was all mine!                 Even though I was 4 years old, I understood the importance of having a doll that looked just like me.  It was okay that my skin was a toasty brown color. It was okay that my hair was not straight and blonde like many of the other dolls.  It was okay that my nose was round. It was okay to look like me. I could relate to Huggy Bean, and I appreciated her.- 1BlessedNatural "Rejoice always".-1 Thessalonians 5:16
