Natural Hairstyles: Cornrow and Twisted Crown Style

Happy Saturday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a good weekend. I wanted to update you on my hair.  Latest Styles: The Cornrow and Twisted Crown Style was done about 3 weeks ago on stretched hair. I kept it in about 2 weeks before putting mini twists back in my hair. If you've read my past mini twist posts, you know I love them when I have the patience to do them. Taking them out is a different story! lol. Last week, I trimmed my hair with the twists still in.  The Style: The Cornrow and Twisted Crown Style took  about 45 minutes to create. I used Let's Jam Extra Hold Gel for the base of the cornrows because I got so tired of my scalp itching from regular gel. The hair was cornrowed until I got about 1/2 to 1 inches away from my scalp, and then I two-strand twisted the rest of the way.  Update on Detangling: In one of my last natural hair posts I told you about how I was using the Denman brush to detangle my hair. H...

3 Take Down Tips for Natural Hairstyles

Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! It can be a chore to take down natural hairstyles, especially protective styles. Today, I wanted to give you 3 tips that help me when it comes to taking down natural hairstyles:   1. Take your time. Be sure to set aside enough time to take down your hair. If you try taking out braids or twists quickly, you run the risk of experiencing knots and breakage. 2. Apply products.  If you're removing braids and twists, try applying an oil or cheap conditioner to them  to make them easier to remove. The conditioner can also improve the condition of your hair if it's dry. 3. Use tools.  Using hair tools to take down your style can make the process easier and faster. You can always just use your fingers (of course) if that is easier for you. Here are some tools for common natural hairstyles: 1. Two-strand twists- fingers, comb - Hold the end of your twist with one hand. Slide your index fing...

1BN Kids: Little Girls' Natural Hair Halloween Styles

1BlessedNatural: Little Girls' Natural Hair Halloween Styles Hey, my blessed naturals! I hope you all had a great Halloween! Yesterday, Big and Little Sister Natural wore their hair in some cute styles for the day. 9-Year- old, big sis was a bumblebee. She rocked a medium-size fishtail braid going across the front of her head and a banded ponytail ( banding method ) in the back. She wore an antenna headband in the part between her braid and ponytail. Little Sister Natural was a princess. Some of you may remember a previous post I did on her hair when she had the same style, but was 1 or 2 years old. She is now 4 years old, and her hair has grown sooo much since then! She wore her hair in 2 big twist-out ponytails with 1 ball ponytail holder on each one. God has blessed their mom to do all of that hair! That's for sure! LOL Here are some pics: 1BlessedNatural: side view-  Big Sister Natural's fishtail braid across head with banded ponytail 1Bl...
