When I asked her if she was thinking about going natural, she said she didn't think she would look nice with natural hair. I had the same concern when I was thinking about doing the Big Chop. Natural hair is so versatile that you can find a natural style or styles that you like for yourself. If you are considering going natural and want to get an idea of how you would look, try doing braid-outs , twist-outs , rod sets, Bantu knots and knot-outs , straw sets, and roller sets . Those styles are the closest to textured hairstyles. During my transition, I loved doing braid-outs like the one below, and combing the hair out to get a kinky look (above). I know some of you have been wondering what is going on with my hair. The truth is that not much is going on, lol. I haven't really been styling my hair in any fancy styles. I've only been rocking my hair in my usual puff and flat twist hairstyle. My hair has been frizzy also. I've noticed that when I wear my hair in a puff hairstyle for a long period of time and I only use my hands to neaten the puff, my hair starts to look frizzy if I keep the style in for too many days at a time. Since I've been walking around with my hair looking like a fuzzy bear, lol ( at least, to my eyes), I decided to install some two-strand twists this weekend. Hey everyone, In November, I did an afro style with beads. I've been wanting to do twists with beads, but I did not have patience until I saw MahoganyKnots' video " Beady Bead ". I jumped into the time machine and became a little girl again lol. Hair Preparation  I washed and deep conditioned my hair. Then, I applied Giovanni's Leave-In Conditioner , Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie , and Coconut Oil to my hair. After applying the products, I banded and two-strand twisted my hair.   Installing the Beads I purchased 4 packs of black, white, and clear beads . I also brought snag-proof elastic bands . Snag-proof elastic bands have a shiny coating as opposed to regular rubber bands that are dry. I purchased them from Dealz for $1.00 (500-pack). I used a bobby pin and the bead wan to install the beads. *WARNING*- Please check the beads for snags because they may break your hair. All edges should be smooth. It will save you the time and...

Beaded flat twist natural hairstyle Happy Saturday everyone! I have to say that God is good! I am blessed to be alive... I have been feel adventurous and wanting to put beads in my hair lol. I know... little girl status lol. Two weeks ago, I bought a pack of black, clear, and white beads from my local beauty supply store. I made diagonal flat twists in the front (bang) area of my hair.  Then I parted two vertical sections above my ear, and flat twisted them. Use a bobby pin to put the beads in your hair. Then, I hooked a small bobby pin to the middle of the twist and pulled it through the beads. Some bead packs come with a hook to help put them in your hair. Next, I took the end of the twists and pinned them to the top of my hair (not too tight). You can also flat twist you hair in an upward direction, instead of pinning them. The fro part of my hair had already been bantu-knotted, so I put on a headband and was good to go :-)

Happy Sunday everyone! On Friday, I couldn't take it any longer, so I washed my hair. It didn't take me as long as usual. It took me about 2 hours. I washed my hair in 4 sections and applied conditioner to each section. I tried finger detangling my hair only. The process went smoothly. Saturday I wore my hair in a twist out, but my afro was not stretched enough to my liking. Last night, I put m hair in 8 sections, two strand twisted, and bantu-knotted them.  This morning I attempted another bang style with a regular plastic headband, and I was pleased :-) I had been thinking about flat ironing my hair, but I was too chicken to go through with it lol. I'm not about to be dealing with heat damage. I've dealt with that before . The Mini- Twist Style Challenge was fun because I was able to really challenge and push myself to work with my hair.
