Natural hair updo adorned with Cowrie Shell. Hi everyone, I've been receiving some questions about how to put Cowrie Shells in your hair. Hopefully this post will help many of you with the accessory. Cowrie Shells 2. hair pins 3. snag-proof elastic bands Using Elastic Bands to Apply Cowrie Shell 1. Squeeze the elastic band between your thumb and index finger. 2. Loop one side of the elastic band through the middle of the shell. 3. Put your index finger through the two looped sides, and put shell on desired section of hair *This method is good if you want to put the Cowrie shells on locs.  Using Hair Pins to Apply Cowrie Shell 1.  Take 1 hair pin and put one prong through the middle of the shell. Two-strand twisted, beaded boby pin updo by 1 BlessedNatural Hi everyone, If you're looking for a quick and easy way to jazz up your natural hair style, try creating beaded bobby pins! Items Needed 1. hair beads 2. bobby or hair pins (black or brown)- I used brown pins, but black pins would work better. Directions 1.  Take your favorite color bead and loop it around onto the hair pin or bobby pin. I used the medium-sized hair beads, but you can use the small ones. Some of them can loop all the way around to the bend of the pin, making the pin easier to hide.  The beaded pins are great to accessorize your updos! The back of my banded hairstyle. Happy Wednesday everyone! I've done several posts about banding my hair to stretch it without heat. If you've read some of my previous posts, you may have read that I often band my hair at bedtime and remove the bands in the morning. The other night, I wondered about keeping the bands in my hair. So, I created a style where I could band the back section of my hair and keep it for a style.  Talk about shrinkage! 1. I parted a small side part in the bang section of my hair, creating two rectangular sections from the bang down to each ear.  2. I flat twisted the front section, and then pinned (with hair pins) the twists into little rolls.   3.After banding the back section, I put the two sections together (crossing each other), and then I secured the sections with hair pins.  4. Last time, I showed you all my puff with the turquoise flower . I decided to try transforming the style into a more formal updo.  1.Put your hair in a puff.  2. Grab medium-sized sections of hair inside the puff. Optional: Moisturize and seal(with an oil) each section. 3. Two-strand twist each section. 5. Roll the twist up towards the middle of the puff. Use hair pins to keep the twist in place.   6. When you are finished, you should have a small, open space in the middle of the rolled twists.  You can add a flower clip or any hair accessory you'd like :-) This style is great to wear for the office, weddings, or any other formal occasion/place. For weddings, you can add pearled hair pins to the twists themselves. What updo styles do you like to wear?

I don't know what happened to my flat twists with puff style. It's almost like my hair said, "The heck with this." LOL. It just started to not look right despite me trying to fix it. I rocked the style for about a week and a half. I redid the twist every two days. The puff was redone every day. Hmmm. Moving on!  Last night, I moisturized and sealed my hair. Afterwards, I flat twisted my bang area. Then, I two-strand  twisted the back section. I pinned the bang to the side using bobby pins. This morning, I did a puff and then added a hot pink comb for decoration. I replaced the bobby pins with the less noticeable hair pins. Have you ever had a style that just wouldn't look right regardless of what you did to it?

Happy Sunday! The night before last, I did another updo. I grabbed sections of my hair and twisted them upward. Then I pin curled the sections and used hair pins to secure them. The few twists in the bang area were pinned to the side. I am already plotting on taking the braids out, and it's only been a week. I might do more mini twists . I like them better than mini braids.  I will keep you all updated!

  Happy Thursday everyone!  Yesterday, I said I was going to fore-go the headbands, but I ended up wearing one today lol. The good thing is the material of the headband is very soft, and it doesn't pull my edges. Last night, I applied Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie to my mini braids (no extensions) and installed Cold Wave Rod Curlers for a rod set.  This morning, I removed the rollers and pinned my hair up (using hair pins). The back didn't look too fancy lol, but it was fine for me. Before I did the updo, I tried to style my braids by leaving them a loose, but it was really not working lol. The braids still looked sparse. That's what happens when you install small braids in fine hair. I figured the curls would make a difference... Ha! I was wrong. It was a natural hair disaster, lol. So, I went along with updo! Thank God for hair pins! Have you ever had a natural hair disaster? What style did you try?
