How to Stretch Your Mini Twists With Bobby Pins

Hey everyone, This week I two strand twisted my hair. I used the banding technique to stretch my hair before twisting. But, my hair usually shrinks after 2-3 days, especially when I sleep. So, I section my hair off and pin the twists down to prevent them from shrinking.

Hair Update Post Mini Twists

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope that you all had a blessed day. Church service was good today. My pastor preached about the fact that saved people still have struggles, and we should not judge. We should continue to thank and rely on the Lord through our struggles. The message was based out of Romans 7:25 that says, " I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin". In hair related news, my hair has grown a lot since November. Because of the mini-twists and the growth, my hair is more stretched than it was before the twists. It has also increased in thickness. I was washing and detangling my hair every week, but I've switched to every two weeks. I have been wearing two big flat twists in the front of my hair and a twist out in the back. At night, I apply the Roots of Nature Shea Butter and Green Tea and Grape Seed Oil to my hair hair, at night and then put my hair in...

Natural Hair: Banding (Stretching) Technique Revisited

Hey my natural beauties! I decided to do the banding technique again. The last time that I did the banding technique was back in June when I had a TWA. I performed this after washing and deep conditioning my hair. I applied Organics Olive Oil Leave In Conditioner and shea butter mixed with olive oil to each damp section. I left about 1/2 inch between the end of the band and ends of my hair so that my hair could be extra bushy lol. Plus, I didn't want the bands to damage my ends while sleeping. I also made sure that the band at the base of each section was not tight. The first time I banded my hair, my bands were too tight and I couldn't sleep. in the morning... My hair was very soft!

The Banding (Stretching) Technique for Natural Hair

Hey everyone, I have been seeing videos and blogs about the Banding technique for natural hair. I have problems with shrinkage. So, I've decided to try it. I performed this after deep conditioning, shampooing, and moisturizing my hair.  Here are the materials that I used (you may find others that work better for you): -Wide-tooth comb- dollar store -Cloth bands (without the metal) or the Ouchless bands by Goody - dollar store -Thick little bands shown in the picture to the left--(I soaked them in Olive Oil) dollar store -Deep Conditioner - a good moisturizer 1. I soaked my bands in oil before using them. This was to prevent breakage.  2. I applied a deep conditioner, cream, and oil to the section and combed through. My hair was damp, not wet. 3. Comb the damp section. Put a thick band around the base of the section. (not too tight) 4 Then take a small, thin band and put it diagonal down the section of your hair. You should have a "pigtail", sticking...

My Fro Update

My Fro 3 months after Big Chop  Hey everyone, Last night, I decided to stretch my hair after my wash. I did something similar to the Pineapple method. I parted my hair in about 8 small sections. It was similar to the method Dejah used called "Pineappling."I moisturized my hair using Coconut Oil (too much of it lol), shea butter, and IC Hair Polisher.  I grabbed the hair and twisted it around like a pin curl (in each section) and put a bobby pin in it. I will post pictures of the method soon. I was very happy with the results. But, I used too much of the Coconut Oil. I learned some great tips from "The Natural Haven ." about using Coconut Oil as a moisturizer.
