1BN Kids: Upward Rubber Band Twists Into Twisted Bun Style

1BN Kids: Upward Rubber Band, French Braid Into Twisted Bun Style Happy Tuesday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend. Little Sister Natural (LSN) is heading back to school with her hair in upward twists into a twisted bun style. I love how her mother did the style because the back was sectioned off into rectangles using rubber bands, split them into two sections, and (correction) two-strand twisted them upward into the top ponytail. The top section was put into a ponytail and sectioned into 2 big twists. The twists were wrapped around and pinned into a bun. LSN has one big twist in her bang area, off to the side. The style took about 30-40 minutes. Cantu Curl Activator was applied to her hair beforehand. Are you going to try this hairstyle on your little natural(s)? 1BN Kids: Upward French Braid & Cornrows with Bun Style

1BlessedNatural: 1BN Kids: Upward French Braid & Cornrows with Bun Style Happy Friday, my blessed naturals! What a blessing it is to make it to Friday! LOL Big and Little Sister Natural recently rocked some cute styles for their first couple of weeks back to school. For their first day back, Big Sister Natural (BSN) wore her hair loose back, and Little Sister Natural (LSN) wore her hair in two pony tails with flexi rod curls. 1BlessedNatural: Little Sister Natural's flexi rod curls. We forgot to take a picture after it dried. 1BlessedNatural: BSN's hair for the first day of school  This week, their mom sent me a photo of BSN's hair in an upward french braid with 4 cornrows into a bun at the top of her head. BSN's hair was already straight from being blow dried the week before last. The style took about 40 minutes to complete. Grape seed oil was applied to her strands before styling. Her mom used a hair doughnut like the one ...

Poetic Justice Inspired Braids: Bun and Maintenance

Poetic Justice inspired braids in a triple twisted bun Hey, my blessed naturals! If you are on the east coast, then you may have heard about the rain forecast for the 4th of July (sad face). Hopefully, it won't be a complete washout. In hair related news, I've been wearing my Poetic Justic e , Janet Jackson inspired braids in a  twisted bun style, just like the one I wore with my smaller single braids . I used a black satin scrunchie to put them in a ponytail before doing the bun. The scrunchie was showing, and yes I left my bun like that lol. I sleep with a satin scarf tied around the base of my hair to keep it neat. I spray the African Royale spray on my hands and pat it onto my braids. This way, I can moisturize my braids and still keep them neat. This weekend, I will probably take my braids down and spray them well.  What hairstyle are you rocking for the holiday weekend? Single Braids Maintenance and New Card Items

Hey, my blessed naturals! It's been 1 week since I did my single braids for the first time . I've been enjoying the fact that I don't have to do my hair. Yay for protective styling lol! I keep my hair in a twisted bun style, and I use the African Royale Sheen Spray on my hair and scalp. I also use the Hollywood Beauty Tea Tree Oil on my scalp to combat the itching. I spray my hair every morning, but I've only used the oil once. I plan to cleanse my scalp next week. Yesterday, I took my hair down spritzed, oiled, and put it back up into a bun. Since my hair is in a protective style, I've had more time to work on adding more cards to the Ruthie's Greetings Etsy shop. Today, I added "The Blessed Birthday Girl" card and gift tags (shown below). The young lady on the front is rocking a bun just like me, lol. Some of you may remember that I had the gift tags in my shop before. I thought it would be cute to add a card to make it a bir...

Single Braids: Double Twisted Bun and My New Greeting Cards

Single Braids: Double Twisted Bun style. Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a great week. Today, I wanted to share a picture of my double twisted bun style that I did with my single braid extensions. It didn't come out quite as good as I wanted because I cut the braids previously, but I still like the style. I plan to rock the bun for the hot weather. It's great because I don't have to worry about my hair being on my neck. God willing, I will do the same style (neater)when I braid my hair again. Earrings by Taramanda. I purchased these for $3.99 from Beauty Is Me Beauty Supply . Also, I have added more (handmade) natural hair greeting cards to the Ruthie's Greetings Etsy shop. The latest cards are called the "Fraternal Twin Afro Style" 2-pack of cards shown below. Each card features 1 stylish twin, African-American figure with an Afro. They are apart of the " Afro Style " series of cards that I i...

More Twists: Two Cornrows into Bun Style

Hi my blessed naturals! This weekend, I washed, deep conditioned, and installed more mini two-strand twists . My ends were also trimmed   again, because I still had raggedy ends from the protein overload breakage. Afterwards, I did the 2 cornrows into bun hairstyle. I created a side part at the front of my hair, and cornrowed the hair on both sides, downward past my ears. Then, the hair was gathered into a bun. I used a hair tie. Hair pins were used to secure the braids. I love this style because it's a quick and easy one.  What natural hairstyle did you do this weekend?   Get your 1BlessedNatural t-shirt here !

Mini Braids Style Challenge: Bun with Headband Style #1

This is the first style for my mini braids . Please excuse my crooked headband lol. I've been wearing the bun with headband style for the last couple of days, but I want to avoid breakage from the friction of the headband. It's time to find a new style! I use bobby pins to pin down the shorter braids in my bang area. Also, June 3, 2013 made 27 months that I've been natural :-) Thank God for the journey!

Moving On From Traction Alopecia: Part 2

If you read my post " Moving On From Traction Alopecia ", then you know my sister, C. has made the decision to not wear wigs anymore to hide her bald spots and natural hair. In addition to having Traction Alopecia, C. also has fine thin hair. The day before yesterday we washed, conditioned, moisturized, and sealed her hair. Then I put her hair in medium sized twists and put them in a bun using a hair tie. My 2nd Attempt At Flat Twisting: Bun

Hey everyone, I hope that you are enjoying your night. God is good :-) My best friend needed to do something with her hair. So, I decided to try flat twisting her hair. Her hair is permed, but she has about two inches of new growth. The hardest part was creating the parts and beginning the twists. But, once I finally got the hang of it, it was quite easy. Thank God :-)
