Results of My Banded and Pin Curl Twist-Out

1BlessedNatural: Results of My Banded and Pin Curl Twist-Out Hey my blessed naturals! Last time , I promised you all that I would share pictures of my banded/twisted pin curl twist-out results. I did it Tuesday night for Wednesday. I used my usual products for the style including Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion (listed below) and 100% coconut oil. The style was done on hair that had already been twisted a couple of days before. I was very happy with my results. My roots were smoother, but my hair was puffy, fuller, well defined, and curled. I didn't have time to take a picture of my hair when I first finished taking all of the bands out of my hair. I'd gotten back and put my hair in a puff before remembering to take a picture lol. So, my hair is a bit frizzy, you can still see my results.  1BlessedNatural: my  hair when I was removing the banded and pin curled twists                ...

Stretching (Banded) Mini Twists = Less Work?

1BlessedNatural: Stretching (Banded) Mini Twists = Less Work? Happy Friday, my blessed naturals! In the last article, I told you I was going to do an ACV rinse and wash my min twists. I love doing the rinses with my natural hair in twists because it makes it easy for me to spray the ACV/tea tree oil mixture on my scalp without needing to part my hair. After I was done washing and conditioning, I applied Aunt Jackie's "Knot On My Watch" detangler and Curls Creme Brule. After sealing in the moisture with coconut oil, my twists were banded to stretch them and allowed to air-dry.  Cutting Down on the Work and Time My plan was to stretch my twists so that my hair would still be stretched when I removed them a few days later. This process made less work for me. Last night when I removed my twists, I didn't have to worry about washing my hair. I just removed the twists and finger detangled as I went along. You may want to try this method to save time. The o...

Election Day Hair: Puff with Cornrows

Happy Tuesday, my blessed naturals, Today was Election Day in New Jersey. Sunday, I washed my hair, but I didn't get a chance to deep condition it.  As a result, my hair was very dry. Last night, I co-washed my hair, and then deep conditioned it. Afterwards, I banded the back of my hair and cornrowed the front of it. I created a side part and little cornrows going down both sides of my head, towards my ears. This morning, I used a thin elastic hair tie to gather my hair into a puff. I used a wide black stretchy band as decoration. This method works because my hair has grown out a lot. The thin band allows me to make a neat and tight, but not too tight puff.   Products from Amazon that were used for this style: What natural hairstyle did you wear today? Using Fabric Bands to Stretch Natural Hair

Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! Yesterday, I told you all that I was going to band and twist my hair. Today, I wanted to show you all the latest pictures of my hair banded . Banding is a great way to stretch your natural hair without using heat. I use two different types of bands (ponytail holders). Sometimes, I use the thin bands (without the metal section). I'm not a big fan of using them because the rubber band snaps or loses its elasticity after a few uses. They also get stuck in my hair. I prefer to use the small stretchy fabric bands ( in the picture). They last longer than the thin ones. Plus, I'm able to stretch my hair a little more with out the band pulling my hair  too much at the root. They're also easy to remove.  If you plan to use the thick bands and are worried about them damaging your hair by pulling, drying, or rubbing your hair out, try soaking them in Olive Oil before using them. During my trip to Mississippi, I found a beauty s...

My hair was banded before for styling. What natural hairstyle are you wearing today? The shop will re open on April 24th.

Natural Hair Update: Curls, Twists, and Length

Happy Tuesday everyone! In my last hair article, " Natural Hair Fatigue " I told you all I was going to do another roller set . I usually use the Foam Wrap Lotion.,water, and Coconut Oil by Motions to set my curls. This time, I tried the Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion , water, and Coconut Oil. The curls that dried thoroughly were fine, but the others dropped. If you decide to use the Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion for a roller set, be sure to allow extra time for your hair to dry. It takes a little longer than when you use the Foam Wrap Lotion. I ended up finger combing all the curls out and doing a puff style. I had little tiny curly throughout my hair from the "roller set gone wrong" lol.  small coils that remained in my hair after the roller set This weekend, I installed mini twists in my hair. I banded my hair to stretch it. It's been a few months since I've done it. This time, my hair looked like it grew another inch and a half. Because my hair w...

Banded Hair as a Style Tutorial

The back of my banded hairstyle. Happy Wednesday everyone! I've done several posts about banding my hair to stretch it without heat. If you've read some of my previous posts, you may have read that I often band my hair at bedtime and remove the bands in the morning. The other night, I wondered about keeping the bands in my hair. So, I created a style where I could band the back section of my hair and keep it for a style.  Talk about shrinkage! 1. I parted a small side part in the bang section of my hair, creating two rectangular sections from the bang down to each ear.  2. I flat twisted the front section, and then pinned (with hair pins) the twists into little rolls.   3.After banding the back section, I put the two sections together (crossing each other), and then I secured the sections with hair pins.  4. Add a pretty little hair clip :-) 5. Add pretty earrings :-) Are you going to try a ...

Natural Hair Puff with Turquoise Flower

I hope everyone is having a great week! Last night, I co-washed and banded my hair. My hair needed washing because it's been hot and I've been using Olive Oil on my scalp. I loved the fact that my hair was still moisturized after it was co-washed. This morning I applied water and Ecostyler Olive Oil gel and water to my edges. Then I used a hair tie to create a puff. I bought the decorative flower clip at a sale at Claire's. Check out my other puff styles! 1. Puff with Flat Twisted Swoop Bang and Comb 2. Puff with Rosette 3. Puff with Side Flat Twists and Swoop Bang What's your favorite puff style?

Puff with Side Flat Twists and Swoop Bang

T he night before last, I decided to add more flat twists to my Puff with Flat Twisted Swoop Bang style.  Because my edges were frizzy by the end of the day, I thought it would be a good idea to flat twist the sides  of my hair. I banded the back section in two ponytails. Yesterday, I took the bands off, and then put my hair in a puff.    What's your favorite hairstyle?
