Yesterday, I tried doing a twist and tuck protective style using the Kinky (Marley) Twist (100% Kanekalon) braiding hair by Femi. I usually use straight Kanekalon hair by the Sassy or Janet Collection, but I like the textured hair better because it matches mine. Now, the new natural hair inspired trend is faux locs or temporary dreads protective style. Faux locs have been around since the popularity of locs in the 1970s . Back in February, K.C. Undercover actress Zendaya stepped out on the Oscars red carpet with the Lisa Bonet inspired hairstyle. In the '90s, Bonet wore her natural hair in medium size locs with the top section pulled back into a ponytail, and she still wears her locs today. Since Coleman wore her faux locs, other celebrities like Meagan Good and Tasha Smith have been rocking theirs too.                                              ...

Poetic Justice inspired braids Happy Tuesday, my blessed naturals! This weekend, I removed my first set of braids, then I washed, deep conditioned, moisturized, and sealed my hair. Afterwards, I installed a set of large, box braids extensions inspired by Janet Jackson's look in the movie Poetic Justice . The style was completed in about 8 hours. Because the braids were large, I could have completed them sooner, but I took breaks in between. I used 5 1/2 packs of the Urban Beauty Kanekalon hair.  The one thing I will do differently next time is to make the parts a tad bit smaller I grabbed too much of my hair for some of the braids, so you can see my hair fuzzing up through the braids. In all, I'm happy with the installation. I plan to keep the braids in for 2-4 more weeks, depending on the life of the style. Thank God for protective styling! My First Time: Single Braid Extensions Hey, my blessed naturals! Last time, I told you all I was thinking about doing my own single braids. Thank you to  +Cassandra A , +Lydia Lusambo , +Reverend Crowning Glory , and  +QueensBred Elle for sharing your experiences and encouragement! This past weekend, I decided to try doing my own single braids. It took me 2 days to complete. back: single braids   The Hair I used synthetic hair: 3 packs of Urban Beauty Super Silky Jumbo Synthetic hair- I liked the shine and softness of the hair, but it kept getting tangled. So, I feel like I wasted a lot of it. My hair is normally jet black, but it looked a lighter (to me) from the sun, so I chose 1B color which is off back. You can see in the last article that my hair was still darker than the color of the braiding hair. Rain Day Twist-Out Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! Yesterday morning, my hair was in a defined twist-out, but when I cam home it was in a poofy one lol. I was thinking about getting extensions to give my hair a rest. Last week, I bought a few packs of 100% Kanekalon synthetic braiding hair to do single braid extensions. I've done extensions on other people's hair, but I've never done it on my own hair. So, I decided to practice doing a couple on my hair. My results are below. I plan to do my whole head when I have some time. I thought about going to a braid shop, but I'm not in the mood to have someone yanking and combing through my hair like they don't have any sense, lol. The last experience  was more than enough aggravation. I've noticed that my scalp is a bit more sensitive since I've gone natural.
