Natural Hair Update: Mostly Coconut Oil

Natural Hair Update: Coconut Oil Mostly - This photo was taken last Sunday before church. My hair was banded washed the night before. Happy Sunday, my blessed naturals! I know it's been awhile since I've given you all an update on my natural hair. Because the weather has been in the 60s and 70s, I've been able to use mostly coconut oil my hair during the week, but I still follow my weekly wash day routine. The first couple of days after wash day, I apply coconut oil to my hair while it is in 4 sections. I wear it in either in a puff or 4 sections to keep it stretched throughout the week. On Wednesday or Thursday, I spritz my hair with water, apply Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion, and coconut oil. Then, coconut oil is used once a day until wash day . Don't forget to check out tomorrow's article! It will feature a natural from the UK! Products used for the style above: What is your daily natural hair routine? Related Articles: New Video "My Ha...

Stretched Braid-Out

Stretched Braid-Out Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! Saturday, I wore my hair in a stretched braid out. Friday night, I parted my stretched hair into 4 big sections. Then, I applied a small amount of the Curls Unleashed Leave-In Conditioner and sealed with my Olive and Lavender Oil mixture. I originally planned to use the Cantu Curl Activator and Coconut Oil, but I found that I was getting a lot of visible build-up after few uses. After applying the products, I would start getting white flakes. The combination of Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion and Coconut Oil works the best for my hair. The next morning, my hair was stretched, but a bit dry. I have found that Coconut Oil is the best sealant I have tried for my hair. My Chunky Twists

Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! Today, I was flipping through my camera and found some photos of my hair back in December of last year. At the time, I was still dealing with protein overload , but I still liked the way my twists came out. My plan was to see if I could do big twists nice enough to wear outside of the house, but I did not like the space between the parts. So, I pinned my twists together in a style and added a cowrie shell .  If you are having an issue with your hair, I think it's important to try to find something you like about it (smile). Because my curl pattern was not the same (at the time) due to the protein overload, my hair was a little more stretched and I didn't mind. I also liked the twist out from these twists. Can you think of a time when a style did not come out the way you planned, but you rocked it anyway? Related Articles: How to Put Cowrie Shells in Natural Hair      ...
