1BN Kids: Twists with Flat Twists and a Curl

1BN Kids: Twists with Flat Twists and a Curl Hey, my blessed naturals! Little Sister Natural is back with a new natural style! After her hair wash washed and conditioned, her mom parted it from ear to ear. The top half was split into two big sections. Each section was two-strand twisted and then twisted into one. The bottom half of her hair was put into three big flat twists. Her mom put one finger coil near her edges. Like auntie , like niece! LOL. You can see the top part of her twists are thick. So, her hair is growing back! Here's more pics of her style: 1BlessedNatural: LSN's flat twists What hairstyle is your little one(s) wearing? Today, she posted a pretty pic of herself on Instagram wearing black Sengalese twists with the top part of her hair pulled up. Last week, the Total star posted another pic of her hair in two neat french braids. Other protective styles she's posted include individual braids, twists, updos, and others! Back in her Total days, Keisha kept her hair in short hairstyles. It's nice to see her in different ones now. I have to also have to add that she is natural! Hot Pink Beanie and Mini Twists

1BlessedNatural: Hot Pink Beanie and  Mini Twists Happy Tuesday, my blessed naturals! My hair is still in mini twists from a week ago. They look much older than that time period though because I made them a bit bigger than normal. Last weekend, I put on a hot pink beanie and was out! I left some twists out in my bang area. Tonight, I plan to do an ACV rinse , wash, and deep condition. 1BlessedNatural:That patch of hair near my edges was a twist turned finger coil lol. I don't know. Protective Style: Cornrows and Pin Curl Twist Updo

1BlessedNatural: Protective Style: Cornrows and Pin Curl Twist Updo Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! I hope you are all having a great start to your week. Yesterday, I took down my rubber band twist and cornrow updo style. Then, I did an ACV rinse, washed, deep conditioned, and detangled my hair before doing a similar style. My plan was to do the same style, but I forgot exactly how I did it, lol. Have you ever had one of those moments? I did the style late last night. It took about 4 1/2 hours. Today, the twists were pin curled using bobby pins. I love this style because my hair is up and out of the way. You gotta love protective styling! 1BlessedNatural: Here's how my hair looked after removing the style 1BlessedNatural: side view of cornrow and pin curl twist updo 1BlessedNatural: back of cornrow and pin curl twist updo What natural hairstyle are you rocking the week? Heat, Humidity, Twists, and Twist-Outs

1BlessedNatural: Heat, Humidity, Twists, and Twist-Outs Happy Saturday, my blessed naturals! This week, I've been wearing medium-size twists and twist-outs. I twisted my hair using water (spritz), Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion , and coconut oil (as my sealer) on Wednesday night. Since the weather has been in the 80s and humid, my hair's been staying moisturized longer. I love it! The high humidity also means more shrinkage. Womp, womp lol, but it's all good. Today, my twists were removed for a twist-out, and my hair was still moisturized. When I re-twist tonight, I will probably just use water and coconut oil.    How's the weather been treating your natural hair?  Related Articles: Twist-Out on Braid-Out Hairstyle                             How to Get a Fluffier and Fuller Twist-Out       ...

Update: Day 2 and 3 Curlformers Hair | Bantu Knot-Out Tutorial

Happy Monday, my blessed naturals, I hope you all are having a great start to your week. Yesterday was Day 2 of my Curlformers curls. They looked okay at the beginning of the day considering the fact that I did not sleep with a bonnet. I only slept on a satin pillow case. By the end of yesterday, my curls looked more like cotton balls . Since my hair was still stretched, I decided to do a two-stand twist, Bantu knot-out. The only products I applied to my hair were oil and water. Since the Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion was still in my hair, the water reactivated it. I parted my hair in medium sections, applied water, oil (to my ends), two-strand twisted, and wrapped the hair around into a Bantu knot. The knots were kept in my hair overnight. I've included a YouTube video tutorial below. In the morning, I applied coconut oil to my fingers, unraveled, and fluffed my hair. I used a wide-tooth comb to lift my roots and hide my parts. My hair was parted on the side and...

Little Girls' Long Rubber Band Twists

1BlessedNatural: Little Girls' Long Rubber Band Twists Happy Sunday, my blessed naturals, I hope you all are enjoying your day! This weekend, I got a chance to snap some photos of 2 of my nieces' long twists. You may remember an article I did back in April which included photos of their hair. This time, Big Sister and Little Sister were rocking medium-size rubber band (two-strand) twists. Their mom said it took 4 hours to complete both of the girls' hair. Although the twists look tight, they're really not. Mom used a product called Nature's Natural Carrot Hair Oil with Shea Butter and Vitamin E on their hair while twisting it. She says the key is that she kept her hands oily while twisting. Keeping the girls' hair in protective styles have greatly helped retain their length. Here are some more pictures of their hair: 1BlessedNatural: Big Sister Natural's Rubber Band (two-strand) Twists 1BlessedNatural: Little Sister Natural's...

More Mini Twists: Pin Curl Out

Hey my blessed naturals! Here are pictures of my mini two-strand twist, pin curl out . After removing the bands in my hair, I applied the Curls Unleashed "No Boundaries" Leave-In Conditioner, Cantu's Creamy Hair Lotion , and Coconut Oil. I used a rat tail comb to smooth my hair before twisting. It helps to give my twists a neat appearance. It took me 2 days to install the them because I took A LOT of breaks, lol. After finishing my twists, I applied more of the Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion and Coconut Oil and pin-curled my twists for overnight. In the morning, I removed the pin curls and added a couple of hair pins for styling. My hair came out as curly as it would've I had done a rod set . The Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion really gives my hair the shine I like.   Side view: mini two-strand twist, pin curl out mini-twist shrinkage!   Products from Amazon that were used for this style: Have you tried doing a pin curl out with you twist...

1BlessedNatural Spotlight: 1940s Photo of Little Girl with Puffy Braids

Circa 1943 photo of little girl with puffy braids, natural hair (photo courtesy of Flickr- John Atherton ( gbaku ) under CC BY-SA 2.0 Happy Friday everyone! Yes! We've made it through the week, lol! Thank God! Today, I want to show you all another photo I saw on Flickr which features a little African girl with puffy braids. The photo was said to be taken around 1943 and I absolutely love it. In the photo, the little girl's hair appears to be braided softly, and then banded on the ends.  The photo reminds me a lot of my grandmother. When I was a child, my grandmother used to press (hot comb) my natural hair. Because my strands were fine, my braids and twists would appear to be thin when my hair was straightened. I remember my grandmother wondering how other parents got their child's hair to puff up into thick twists and braids like the little girl's hair in the photo above. It's funny to now know that the answer was simple, but not at the time. She could ha...
