Ways to Keep Tangles to a Minimum

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope that everyone is having a good day. Please keep the families of the Connecticut shooting victims in your prayers. Thursday I co-washed my hair to remove the wrap lotion from the rollerset. My hair was softer, but t probably will be even better when I shampoo it. I did a two-strand bantu knot out. I liked the definition in the picture above. Lately, I have been really trying to keep my tangles to a minimum, and I figured I would share what I have learned. Detangle Properly You may use your fingers, wide-tooth comb, or a brush. I usually detangle my hair while it is wet with conditioner or shampoo. I go through section by section slowly from root to tip. I was using a Gabriela (Denman-like) brush every time. But I think that started to put too much stress on my strands, so I use it once in a while now.  Keep Your Hair Stretched Keeping you hair stretched is a good way to keep your strands from wrapping around each other and tangling. ...

Mini Twists Style Challenge: Twist Out after Pineapples (# 6)

  This morning I took out the pineapples , and my curls were still in tact! Yay! I will be doing the pineapples again tonight. I actually found another twist in my hair lol. I'm glad that I didn't try and detangle it. I applied Coconut Oil to my hair and fluffed out my curly fro...

Pineapple Method with Twist Out

I parted my hair into sections and applied Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion and Coconut Oil to each section. I used small hair bands to band my hair for the Pineapple Method to maintain my twist out through the night.

Ponytail = Low Maintenance

Happy Sunday everyone! I have been loving the current phase of my hair. The back of my hair is now long enough to put in a Pineapple or ponytail. This saves me the trouble of having to Bantu Knot or twist my hair at night. I mist my hair with water and then apply Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie or Shea Butter and Green Tea Moisturizer by Softsheen Carson, and then put my hair in a ponytail. I use a ponytail holder that has been soaked in Coconut Oil. In the morning, I apply the same products and fluff out my hair.

After Banding: The Pineapple Method Revisited

I have used the Pineapple Method.  to keep my hair stretched. You can click here to see instructions for the Pineapple Method for natural hair. I know, lol. I look like a little girl, but I love this method! I used the KeraCare Hair Dress and Grape Seed Oil, and my hair curled up at the ends. But it still felt dry. So, I used my normal Shea Butter/ Olive Oil mixure, and my hair started to soften up. In the morning, I will take these out and rake through my hair with the comb (to hide the parts).
