Freestyle Cornrows with Silver Cuffs and a Twist-Out

1BlessedNatural: Freestyle Cornrows with Silver Cuffs and a Twist-Out Happy Sunday, my blessed naturals, I've been wearing cornrows since last week. I did some freestyle cornrows in the front with silver braid cuffs and a twist-out in the back. I love braiding or twisting the front of my hair because I can just put the back in a puff or twist-out. I call it partial protective styling (smile). Here's more pic of the style: 1BlessedNatural: This was taken last week when I first did the style. What natural hairstyle are you wearing this week? TWA: Two-Strand Twist, Pin Curl Out

1BlessedNatural: Twist, Pin Curl, Unravel, Fluff, and Go! Hey, my blessed naturals! It's been a minute since I've posted! My schedule has been crazy, but I'm still here. I've got a few things that I will be sharing (God-willing) with you all soon, including NEW articles from 1BN contributors . So, look out for those! Also, don't forget to sign up for the 1BlessedNatural mailing list on this page to receive the latest updates! In hair-related news... I've been doing two-strand twist, pin curl outs 5 days a week. On the weekend, my routine depends on what day I wash my hair. If I do it on Friday, I'll do a twist out. If not, I will just band my hair to keep it stretched until my normal wash day on Sunday. At night, I apply my products and twist my hair. The next morning, I unravel the twists, fluff out my roots with a wide-tooth comb, and go! Also, I used to two-strand twist the ends of my hair, but I started twirling them around my finger ...

1BlessedNatural Spotlight: Skai Jackson's Natural Hair

1BlessedNatural Spotlight: Skai Jackson (photo cred: Instagram) Skai Jackson plays the cute and sassy character Zuri Ross on the Disney Channel show Jessie and Bunk'd. Along with being a talented actress, she is also a natural hair inspiration. Jackson rocks pretty twist-outs and other natural hair styles on the shows. My niece, Big Sister Natural is inspired by the 13-year old's styles. Too cute! The Bunk'd star has been sharing her natural hair journey on Instagram. In my interview with Ella Joyce , she brought up the fact that a lot of stylists in Hollywood don't know how to style natural hair. Plus, you might know the frequent styling can take a toll on your hair.  Last year, Skai Jackson revealed on her Instagram account that her hair had been damaged. She said, "After so many years of styling and putting stress on m hair, my hair needs a styling break." The young actress visited a salon to get it washed, conditioned, and trimmed. It...

How to Get a Well-Defined Flat Twist, Twist-Out

1BlessedNatural: How to Get a Well-Defined Flat Twist, Twist-Out Happy Friday, my blessed naturals! If you're wondering how to get a well-defined flat twist, twist-out, this is for you! Sunday, I did one. The night before, I sprayed water my hair with water and coconut oil. If you try this style be sure to make your hair wet enough to help it set when it dries. This will help you avoid the frizzies. I parted and twisted about 8 sections starting at my crown going downward, all around my head. The ends were rolled up and pinned using bobby pins. You can also do the same with rod set rollers. Because they have holes, they allow your hair to dry better. Either way, be sure to give your hair enough time to dry. Some people decide to sit under the dryer, but that is your choice. I let my hair dry overnight. In the morning, I rubbed coconut oil on my fingers and gently unraveled my twists. I used a comb to fluff out my roots and hide the parts. Did you try doing a flat ...

Results of My Banded and Pin Curl Twist-Out

1BlessedNatural: Results of My Banded and Pin Curl Twist-Out Hey my blessed naturals! Last time , I promised you all that I would share pictures of my banded/twisted pin curl twist-out results. I did it Tuesday night for Wednesday. I used my usual products for the style including Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion (listed below) and 100% coconut oil. The style was done on hair that had already been twisted a couple of days before. I was very happy with my results. My roots were smoother, but my hair was puffy, fuller, well defined, and curled. I didn't have time to take a picture of my hair when I first finished taking all of the bands out of my hair. I'd gotten back and put my hair in a puff before remembering to take a picture lol. So, my hair is a bit frizzy, you can still see my results.  1BlessedNatural: my  hair when I was removing the banded and pin curled twists                ...

Banded Twist-Out for Smoother Roots

1BlessedNatural - Banded Twist-Out for Smoother Roots Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! This weekend, I washed, deep conditioned, and put my hair in big twists for a twist-out. When I do twists for a twist-out, I usually pin curl them to get more definition. This time, I decided to use the banding method to elongate them and smooth my roots out a bit. I applied my usual products: Aunt Jackie's "Knot on My Watch" detangler , Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion , and 100% Coconut Oil to damp hair. Then, I let it dry overnight. In the morning (for church), I unraveled the twists and used a wide-tooth comb to lift the roots and hide the parts. I liked my results, but I don't like my hair to stick straight out. Later on this week, I'm going to do the same method above, but I'm going to pin curl the banded twists. I will keep you all updated. Also, I want to remind you all to use my GlassesShop.com coupon code to get 50% off your eyeglasses and sunglass...

Another Flat Twist, Twist-Out

1BlessedNatural: Another Flat Twist, Twist-Out Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all had a great weekend. I did a flat twist, twist out on Sunday. Friday, I washed, deep conditioned, and banded my hair. Saturday night, I did medium sized twists. I parted my hair across my crown and twisted it straight down the back and sides. The front was twisted towards my eye brows. My hair was spritzed with water beforehand. Cantu Creamy Hair lotion was applied to each section before sealing with coconut oil. Afterwards I grabbed the ends of a few flat twists (at a time), pin curled, and secured them with a bobby pin.  In the morning, I unraveled the twists and fluffed them out with my fingers. Then, I used a wide-tooth comb to lift my roots to give my hair more volume and hide the parts. 1BlessedNatural: I am flat twisting the back section of my hair down.     1BlessedNatural: me and my half parts lol. The flat twists are completed. ...

Pin Curl Twist-Out, Moisture, and Natural Hair Ad Talk

1BlessedNatural: Pin Curl Twist-Out, Moisture, and Natural Hair Ad Talk Happy Monday, my blessed naturals, I hope you all are having a great start to your week. Since I haven't done a twist-out in awhile, I decided to do one this weekend. I used the SheaMoisture Curl Enhancing Smoothi e and Extra Virgin Olive Oil on my hair before twisting and pin curling it. My hair gets moisturized to the core when I apply a moisturizer, two-strand twist, and pin curl it. Because the hair is clumped together, the moisture doesn't evaporate as quickly; it has more time to penetrate the strands. Because it was unseasonably warm yesterday, I didn't need to moisturize my hair last night.Yes! lol 1BlessedNatural: side and front views of pin curl twist-out 1BlessedNatural: side view of my pin curl twist-out 1BlessedNatural: Delta Air Lines poster with women rocking Bantu knot-out Natural hair is making waves everywhere. Twist-Out on Braid-Out Hairstyle

1BlessedNatural: Twist-Out on Braid-Out Hairstyle Hey, my blessed naturals,  Monday night, I did medium, pin curl   two-strand twists on my braid-out hair . I used Aunt Jackie's Curl La La and coconut oil. This morning, I unraveled them. Because I had some Zum Grapefruit Oil by Indigo Wild available, I applied that to my fingers beforehand. I love the smell of it! The bottle says it's Shea Butter Massage and Body Oil, but it works fine on my hair. After removing my twists, I fluffed my hair out and added a headband. The results included a well defined twist-out! 1BlessedNatural: front view of twist-out on braid-out hairstyle 1BlessedNatural: side of twist-out on braid-out hairstyle 1BlessedNatural: back of twist-out on braid-out hairstyle  Do you wear twist-outs?    Related Articles: Chunky Twist-Out with Bang                ...
