Twist-Out on Braid-Out Hairstyle

1BlessedNatural: Twist-Out on Braid-Out Hairstyle Hey, my blessed naturals,  Monday night, I did medium, pin curl   two-strand twists on my braid-out hair . I used Aunt Jackie's Curl La La and coconut oil. This morning, I unraveled them. Because I had some Zum Grapefruit Oil by Indigo Wild available, I applied that to my fingers beforehand. I love the smell of it! The bottle says it's Shea Butter Massage and Body Oil, but it works fine on my hair. After removing my twists, I fluffed my hair out and added a headband. The results included a well defined twist-out! 1BlessedNatural: front view of twist-out on braid-out hairstyle 1BlessedNatural: side of twist-out on braid-out hairstyle 1BlessedNatural: back of twist-out on braid-out hairstyle  Do you wear twist-outs?    Related Articles: Chunky Twist-Out with Bang                ...

Stretched Braid-Out

Stretched Braid-Out Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! Saturday, I wore my hair in a stretched braid out. Friday night, I parted my stretched hair into 4 big sections. Then, I applied a small amount of the Curls Unleashed Leave-In Conditioner and sealed with my Olive and Lavender Oil mixture. I originally planned to use the Cantu Curl Activator and Coconut Oil, but I found that I was getting a lot of visible build-up after few uses. After applying the products, I would start getting white flakes. The combination of Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion and Coconut Oil works the best for my hair. The next morning, my hair was stretched, but a bit dry. I have found that Coconut Oil is the best sealant I have tried for my hair. Detangling Your Transitioning Hair

This is my hair after a wash/ co-wash. It looks tough, but not so bad with a little  patience :-) . I use a wide-tooth comb to detangle my hair. It is best to only detangle your natural hair/transitioning hair when it is wet. This is to ensure that there is little to no breakage. Braid-Out: In this pic, I created two sections where my bang would be, 2 on the side, and 5 in the back *Disclaimer: This post was written in 2011 when I was transitioning from relaxed to natural hair. You don't have to use all of the products I used, but the below methods are what worked for me at that time.  Here is how I detangle my hair & braid-ou t 1. Use a wide-tooth comb to part your hair into 6 or 7 sections 2. Start with one section in the front, and comb your hair beginning at the tips and work your way up to the roots. 3. I usually add my Shea Butter mixed with Castor Oil. I put a finger full in my hands, and rub them together. Apply the mixt...
