Still Worried About Gabrielle Douglas' Hair?

1BlessedNatural: Still Worried About Gabrielle Douglas' Hair? - Gabrielle Douglas and Simone Biles (photo cred: Facebook) It's 2016, and it's sad to see that people are still worrying about Gabrielle Douglas' hair! If you use the #gabbydouglas or #gabbydouglashair on social media, you will see people going in on the young lady and her strands, and it dates back to the 2012 Olympics . She is busy giving us #blackgirlmagic and showing us what she's been blessed to do, but people are still focusing on her hair? It doesn't make any sense. She's making history and bringing home gold medals. I can only imagine that she doesn't have time to be concerned about her hair doing its thing.                          In 2012, Douglas was criticized, because some people thought her hair was not presentable for the Olympics in London. The 16-year-old appeared on the Oprah Show and expressed how much the comments upset her. The...

My Winter Natural Hair Regimen for 2016

1BlssedNatural: My Winter Natural Hair Regimen for 2016 Hey my blessed naturals! I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day! For love day, I wore my hair in a stretched 'fro with a bang. During the week, I pretty much wear my hair in a bun or puff with flat twists in the front. The weekends is when I let my 'fro be free lol. I still use all the same products for the most part. Here is a list of my natural hair products and regimen: 1. 100% Coconut Oil - applied 3 or 4 times a week 2. Aunt Jackie's Detangler - once a week after washing 3. Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion - applied 2-3 times a week* 4.  ACV rins e every week to treat my seborrheic dermatitis 5. Shampoo: Since I ran out of the Aunt Jackie's "Oh So Clean " shampoo, I just use whatever I have available until it runs out. I'm now using the Alvalon Organics Strengthening Peppermint shampoo. 6. Conditioner: Suave Shea Butter and Almond - I love this conditioner because it's ...

2016 Natural Hair Length Check and Goals

1BlessedNatural: 2016 Natural Hair Length Check and Goals Happy New Year, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are starting it off great! Sunday, I got a chance to do a length check on the back of my hair. The last time I did one with my length check t-shirt was back in March of 2015. Because I haven't been doing a whole lot to my hair, it's been getting thicker and thicker. Plus, I gained about one inch of growth; it went from 6 inches to 7 inches. This time, I really didn't expect to see an increase in the length because of the moisture overload and other breakage issues I experienced last year. But, thank God for progress! This weekend, I did one of my homemade protein treatments , and my hair loved it! My hair tends to lose a lot of protein from washing it every week. The last time I did a protein treatment was this past September. I've said this before, but I can wait longer between treatments when I use my mixture than when I use the store-bought...
