Messy Puff Day

Hey, my blessed naturals, Today (in my world) was Messy Puff Day, lol. Last night, I did two-strand twist, pin curls for a pin curl out, but I didn't like the way my hair looked this morning. So, I quickly put my hair up into a messy puff. I liked it though! lol. Day 11: Mini Twist, PIn Curl Out

Hi, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a great week! Today makes 10 days since I installed my mini twists . I've been applying the Cantu Curl Activator Cream and Coconut Oil to my hair every night and morning. At night,  my twists are pinned to keep them stretched. My hair is a bit frizzy from the rainy days we've been having, but they still look okay. I will probably take them out this weekend. Day 10: Mini Twist Hairstyle

Happy Tuesday my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a good day. If you are one of the million people experiencing this snow storm in the United States lol, let me know! Be safe out there. In hair related news, it is day 10 of my mini twist, protective hairstyle. My twists have become a bit frizzy, but they still look okay to rock. I will take them out this week. I'm trying to hold out until the weekend. My scalp is dry, but I've stopped leaving oils on my scalp due to the the seborrheic dermatitis . I usually apply Tea Tree Oil to my scalp 15-20 minutes before washing it. That has helped a lot. What natural hairstyle are you rocking today? Can't Find a Style?

Last night, I co-washed my two-stand twists . I usually band and/or braid my twists to not disturb them too much during the wash process, but I was being lazy. As a result, my twists were very frizzy after I washed them. The fact that they were not small, didn't help either. This morning, I did some grabbing, twisting, and pinning of some sections, lol. When in doubt and out of time, do an updo! lol The style didn't look too hot, but I had to rock it anyway :-). What quick styles have you created?

Tutorial: Puff Transformed Into Formal Updo

Last time, I showed you all my puff with the turquoise flower . I decided to try transforming the style into a more formal updo.  1.Put your hair in a puff.  2. Grab medium-sized sections of hair inside the puff. Optional: Moisturize and seal(with an oil) each section. 3. Two-strand twist each section. 5. Roll the twist up towards the middle of the puff. Use hair pins to keep the twist in place.   6. When you are finished, you should have a small, open space in the middle of the rolled twists.  You can add a flower clip or any hair accessory you'd like :-) This style is great to wear for the office, weddings, or any other formal occasion/place. For weddings, you can add pearled hair pins to the twists themselves. What updo styles do you like to wear?

Two-Strand Twist Updos and God's Lessons

Happy Sunday everyone! Last week, I two-strand twisted my hair with the intention of doing a repeat mini two-strand twist rod set , but that did not happen lol. I did 3 things incorrectly. When I twisted my hair, I made a straight part down the middle of my hair to the back. The second thing was that I rolled my twists in the wrong direction and had too many twists on one of the rods. So, when I took out the rods, my hair was separated and curled in the wrong direction. Even though the rod-set didn't work out, my hair was in the perfect shape to create a mini two-strand updo :-) I twisted the two sections up the back of my hair and secured them with bobby pins. The twists in the front were left hanging. For the second style, I twisted my hair up into two ponytails to the crown of my head. I love this style because it is a great protective style. I let the steam from the shower get into my hair and then I apply coconut oil t...

Lessons From A Retwist

Happy Super Bowl Sunday, Thank God, I made it through this week! If you read my last post, then you know that I retwisted my mini-two strand twists on day 27. This time it only took me 4 hours to complete after washing, deep conditioning, banding, and blow drying (on cool) my hair. Plus, I made the twists a little smaller this time. Because my hair has been stretched from the twists, there has been less tangles than if I had kept my hair in twist-outs. I usually pin my hair on the sides. After about three days, my twists puff up from the steam in the shower and result in a style of their own, and I like it :-) I did not lose a lot hair after detangling. It is said that the average person sheds 100 strands of hair per day. But, that amount has always been a little more for me. My grandmother used to say that I was lucky that I didn't go bald lol.... blessed! I was shocked to find that I did not lose a large amount of hair when removing my twists during week 2. Could it be ...

Another Mini-Two Strand Twist-Out on Day 27

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you are doing well. I am recovering from a cold, and thank God because I hate feeling sick. In hair related news, I took out my twists this morning and retwisted my hair. I'm glad to see that this blog not only helps others, but it helps me remember my routines lol. I really thought that I had made it to the 1 month mark with my twists, but this blog says it is 5 days shy of a month womp womp lol...Here is a twist-out. I will be posting pics of my new two strands soon. Oh yeah, yesterday marked my 11 month natural hair anniversary! Yayy! God is good.

Mini-Two Strand Twists Redone & Organix Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo Review

Happy Monday everyone,     I washed, deep conditioned, stretched, and retwisted my hair on Saturday. I tried using the Rejuvenating Cherry Blossom Ginseng Shampoo by Organix in the pretty pink and gold bottle. The claim on the back said, "Unique blend of Natural & Sulfate Free Surfactants for rejuvenated shine."  So, I figured I would give it a try. But, my hair was still very dry after washing. Maybe I missed something :-( lol Anyway, at least the shampoo had a very nice fragrance.       This time  my twists took less time than last time. They took about 6 hours to complete, as opposed to the 7 hours (last time). I attempted to twist them into a style by parting my hair on the side, of the top part of my hair. At first, I wasn't too thrilled with my results. So, I pinned the top part for a day and took it out.

Mini Two-Strand Twists on Natural vs.Transitioning Hair

Hey everyone, I hope you are enjoying your evening. When I did my twists, it made me think of the time that I did them when I was transitioning. I enjoyed creating my twists as a natural more than I did as a transitioner .  When I was a transitioner, my two-strand twists were thin and stringy. The positive side was that my hair was long enough to do an updo. I kept the twists in for two days and took them out.  However, as a natural my twists are curly, full, and healthy looking ; they look like kinky twists up close. They were fun for me to create because I liked seeing them curl up.  I have had them in for 4 days now. My twists are a bit frizzy from the misty rain, but I am going to try and keep them in for another week.
