1BN Kids: Big Sister Natural's Impromptu Puff

1BlessedNatural: Big Sister Natural's Impromptu Puff Happy Tuesday, my blessed naturals, Yesterday, Big Sister Natural went to school with a ponytail and cornrowed edges and came home with a puff and cornrowed edges lol. I thought it was the cutest thing. She said as soon as she sat outside, she could feel her hair drawing up from the humidity. Too cool! I think she was in shock though! Because I didn't get a chance to take a before picture, I'm including one from last year. This way, you can get an idea of how her ponytail looked. I love the way her mom does the cornrows around the perimeter of her head. January 2015 - Big Sister Natural's ponytail Have you ever left the house with your natural hair one way, and then the rain/humidity caused it to do something else? Wearing High Natural Hairstyles for Long Periods of Time

Wearing High Natural Hairstyles for Long Periods of Time Happy Monday, my blessed naturals, The one question I get asked a lot is if it is okay to wear a high natural hairstyle like a puff, ponytail, bun etc. all the time. In my experience, I think it's good to wear those styles for 2 or 3 days at a time, but you should give your hair a break in between to avoid Traction Alopecia and breakage around your edges and nape. If you are going to wear a puff, do not make it too tight and take the band out before sleeping. In the past, I've tried keeping the band in my hair, moisturizing, and sealing my hair at night. This method worked for awhile, but I had to remove it completely after 5-7 days. When I wear my hair in an updo (with a band) with gel, I usually keep the style in for no more than 5 days. 1BlessedNatural- puff with band For the past few days, my hair has been in the flat twisted and banded style . I do not like to wear my hair pulled up in the bac...

Hair Update: Banana Clip Ponytail Puff

Happy Sunday everyone! This is the day the Lord has made and we shall rejoice and be glad in it.- Psalm 118-24 Even if you cannot get someone a gift this CHRISTmas, make sure you show them some love. Give them a hug :-) In hair-related news... I haven't been in the mood to do my hair. I keep saying I'm going to wash it. I threw some ECO Styler gel, water, and Cantu in my hair and put a banana clip in it. I didn't comb or brush it. I must admit that I was happy that my hair was long enough to pull into a ponytail. I don't think my it has ever been stretched enough to pull all of my hair together, except for a regular puff. What's your go-to style?

Ponytail = Low Maintenance

Happy Sunday everyone! I have been loving the current phase of my hair. The back of my hair is now long enough to put in a Pineapple or ponytail. This saves me the trouble of having to Bantu Knot or twist my hair at night. I mist my hair with water and then apply Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie or Shea Butter and Green Tea Moisturizer by Softsheen Carson, and then put my hair in a ponytail. I use a ponytail holder that has been soaked in Coconut Oil. In the morning, I apply the same products and fluff out my hair.
