Little Girls' Long Rubber Band Twists

1BlessedNatural: Little Girls' Long Rubber Band Twists Happy Sunday, my blessed naturals, I hope you all are enjoying your day! This weekend, I got a chance to snap some photos of 2 of my nieces' long twists. You may remember an article I did back in April which included photos of their hair. This time, Big Sister and Little Sister were rocking medium-size rubber band (two-strand) twists. Their mom said it took 4 hours to complete both of the girls' hair. Although the twists look tight, they're really not. Mom used a product called Nature's Natural Carrot Hair Oil with Shea Butter and Vitamin E on their hair while twisting it. She says the key is that she kept her hands oily while twisting. Keeping the girls' hair in protective styles have greatly helped retain their length. Here are some more pictures of their hair: 1BlessedNatural: Big Sister Natural's Rubber Band (two-strand) Twists 1BlessedNatural: Little Sister Natural's...

Messy Puff Day

Hey, my blessed naturals, Today (in my world) was Messy Puff Day, lol. Last night, I did two-strand twist, pin curls for a pin curl out, but I didn't like the way my hair looked this morning. So, I quickly put my hair up into a messy puff. I liked it though! lol. More Mini Twists: Pin Curl Out

Hey my blessed naturals! Here are pictures of my mini two-strand twist, pin curl out . After removing the bands in my hair, I applied the Curls Unleashed "No Boundaries" Leave-In Conditioner, Cantu's Creamy Hair Lotion , and Coconut Oil. I used a rat tail comb to smooth my hair before twisting. It helps to give my twists a neat appearance. It took me 2 days to install the them because I took A LOT of breaks, lol. After finishing my twists, I applied more of the Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion and Coconut Oil and pin-curled my twists for overnight. In the morning, I removed the pin curls and added a couple of hair pins for styling. My hair came out as curly as it would've I had done a rod set . The Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion really gives my hair the shine I like.   Side view: mini two-strand twist, pin curl out mini-twist shrinkage!   Products from Amazon that were used for this style: Have you tried doing a pin curl out with you twist...

1BlessedNatural Girls and Guys, Natural Hair Photo Shoot : Part 2

Big Sister Natural's cornrow headband style Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a great morning. I'm thankful God woke me up today! Yesterday, I posted Part 1 of the "1BlessedNatural Girls and Guys, Natural Hair Photo Shoot " which featured the older guys and girl. Today, I am posting the hairstyles of the little naturals (smile). Big Sister Natural: You may have seen her styles on my blog before . This time, Big Sister is rocking a braided headband. The style features two interlocked cornrows at the front of her head and two medium sized cornrows. The cornrows are braided around her ears and towards the back of her neck where they hang, hidden by all of her free flowing hair. Her mom said the secret to keeping her hair thick and long was to keep it stretched. She keeps it stretched by blow drying it. This helps to reduce breakage caused by tangles. If you are going to use a blow dryer on your hair, be sure to wash, condition,...

Recovering from Protein Overload (Part 3)

mini two-strand twists  by 1BlessedNatural Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. I have been wearing my two strand twists in a beaded updo . I moisturize and seal my hair every morning and night. I put the products in my hands and pat them on the outside of my updo. I've been using the Kinky-Curly Knot Today leave-in conditioner and Olive Oil mixed with Lavender Oil. My hair is continuing to look and feel more like normal every day, thank God. My ends are starting to curl up instead of sticking straight out . The twists have been good because it helps me to keep my hands out of it. It also holds moisture longer because more of the strands are together. Today, I took my hair down and moisturized and sealed it. I will probably wear twists for the rest of the week. What protective style are you wearing?   Related Articles: My Experience Recovering from Protein Overload               ...

Product Review: Aloe Vera Gel by Fruit of the Earth

Product: Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera 100% Gel Place: local beauty supply store, Pathmark  Price: $1.99 Size: 2 OZ  Ingredients:  Aloe Vera Gel, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carbomer, Tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Diazolidinyl Urea Consistency: clear gel Fragrance: It has a light Aloe Vera smell I've heard so many things about Aloe Vera gel being great for natural hair. I finally decided to try it on my mini twist, pin curl out . The Aloe Vera gel  made my hair very  soft and moisturized. The gel has a moisturizing feel to it. If you put a drop on your hand and rub it in, you can feel a bit of the moisture even after the product has dried. One of the best things about this product is that it does not contain any alcohol, which can dry out your hair. The pictures below were taken after I applied the Aloe Vera gel to my hair. After I applied the Aloe Vera gel to my hair, I two strand twisted and pin curled my hair. In the mo...

Mini Two Strand Twists Photos and Video

Happy Wednesday my blessed naturals! I hope you are having a great week. God is good! Please remember that He is the solution to our problems. :-) " For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16 Last weekend, I installed my favorite protective style, mini two-strand twists. I've been waiting for the end of the summer to install mini twists because I really like doing different styles during the summer. The mini-twists were installed the day after my protein treatment , and I made them really small because I like when they look neat and full. I've also created another video called, " How I Wrap My Mini Twists at Night ". I hope it is helpful to you :-)                                     ...

Natural Hair Misconception: It's Too Much Work

Happy Monday everyone, I have heard many women say they don't want to go natural because it's too much work. They do not want to buy a lot products. They do not want to style their hair a lot. I'm here to say that you do not have to do those things if you do not desire. I am a person that likes to try different products and hairstyles. However, I have found a simple hair regimen that works for me: Daily: Moisturize my hair and seal with oil morning and night             Current Style of choice - Twist outs - twist hair nightly                                                                                     ...

2 Years Natural: Removing My Two-Strand Twists

Hey everyone! March 3, 2013 made 2 years that I've been natural! Yayy! Please do not use the length of my hair as a barometer for length, because I have cut and trimmed my hair several times. I have been wearing mini-twists for the past 3 weeks. I'm going to keep the current installment of twists in for about another week. Then, I might redo them or wear some afro styles. I miss my hair lol! I wanted to post the technique of removing mini-twists by Naptural85 . When you unravel the two sections of the mini-twists, unravel the two sections (individually) and remove the shed hair. This helps to aid in the detangling process.

Sunday Hair: Flat Twist Bang With Puff

Happy Sunday everyone! I feel like I haven't been on here in a long time. I've had some trials but God will get the glory! Pray for me everyone :-) Since I washed my hair last week, I have been wearing my hair in a puff with a flat twist bang. I did my twists on dry hair after applying my Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion and Coconut Oil. I parted the bang sections at a slant. Because I parted small sections, I was surprised that my twists puffed up by the next day.

Mini Twists Style Challenge: Side bang with Headband #5

I liked this style better than the two french braids . This weekend I might take my twists out and do a twist out.

Mini Twist Style Challenge: French Braid with Small Bun #4

Happy Friday! Thank God that we made it through the week :-) This morning, I french braided my hair half way down my head and then put my hair into a small bun. The french braid is a bit sloppy but I did not mind :-)
