Mini Twist Details

1BlessedNatural: Mini Twist Details Hey, my blessed naturals, About a week and a half ago, I decided to put my hair in mini twists to trim my ends. I was loving the fact that I didn't have to do my hair! lol Here are my mini twist details: Time: 8 hours Hair: freshly washed Parting: comb and fingers State: Semi-stretched. Instead of banding my hair like I normally do, I blow dried it on the cool setting . Then, I twirled my hair and clipped it until I was ready to twist it.  Here are some pictures of the twists: 1BlessedNatural: 1BlessedNatural: installing mini twists in the back of my head   1BlessedNatural: Front of my hair     1BlessedNatural: This pic was after about 1 hour or so   1BlessedNatural: All done!   Have you tried doing mini twists on your natural hair? Natural Hair Update: Mini Twists, Trim, and Pin Curl Out

1BlessedNatural- Natural Hair Update: Mini Twists, Trim, and Pin Curl Out  Happy Tuesday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a great week! This past Friday, I washed, deep conditioned, and mini-twisted my hair to trim it. I probably should have done it two weeks ago, but I was being lazy. Two nights ago, I applied a small amount of aloe vera gel to medium-size sections of my hair, two-strand twisted, and pin curled it. In the morning, I unraveled them for some curly twists. This method is my favorite for getting no-heat curls.   Many of you might’ve already read about this method in past posts… 1BlessedNatural: mini twists before pin curling them 1BlessedNatural: two-strand twist, pin curls  1BlessedNatural: Results of my mini twist, pin curl out Have you tried pin curling your mini twists for no-heat curls? Fine Natural Hair: Single Strand Knots, Mini Twists, and Trimming My Ends

1BlessedNatural- Fine Natural Hair: Single Strand Knots, Mini Twists, and Trimming My Ends Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram , then you might know that I spent Super Bowl Sunday doing mini two-strand twists yesterday. I installed the twists because my ends needed a trim badly. Although I didn't have many split ends, I had a lot of single strand knots (SSKs) and straight ends. Because my strands are fine, curly, and longer, they're starting to tangle a lot more. When my hair sheds, the shed hair tangles around my healthy strands. My hair has always sledded a lot, even when I was a child. If I try to pull the shed hair out of my hair by finger detangling, the hair pulls and snaps my healthy strands, resulting in straight ends. As a result, I have to use a comb for detangling at least one time during the week, other than wash day. The last trimming of my ends was in October 2014 . This time, I didn't have to cut off...

Damaged Hair? Don't Panic.

Happy Tuesday everyone, This week, I realized my hair was damaged and breaking off. I couldn't tell if it was just my ends or the middle of my strands. Don't panic, 1BlessedNatural! LOL. When I looked at my ends, I noticed I had a lot of straight hairs. I remembered the the recent changes in my hair regimen. My straight ends came from my hair being pulled too much, during the washing and detangling process. I have been shampooing my hair every 1-2 weeks to prevent my scalp from being scaly. If you've been following my blog, then you know that I usually cleanse my hair with my  Castile soap mixture , instead of shampoo. Because of the increase in the number of times I shampoo my hair, I have been styling and detangling my hair more than usual= too much manipulation. Plus, I've been using a dandruff shampoo , and they can really dry your hair out. Sunday, I washed my hair with my Castile mixture and then, I deep conditioned it. I two strand twisted my hair and put i...

Current Trim Regimen: In Twists

Hey everyone! This weekend I shampooed and deep conditioned my hair. I haven't "shampooed" my hair in weeks because it dries my hair out. I ran out of my Castille Soap mixture , and figured I was due for a good wash to remove the product build-up on my strands. This time, I mixed Olive Oil with my shampoo. As a result, my hair didn't dry out during the process, and my scalp wasn't itchy. After applying my conditioner, I applied plain white yogurt to my hair and twisted it up. I left the conditioner and yogurt in my hair for about 15 minutes while sitting under a heating cap.  (I will be doing an article on using yogurt as a conditioner.) Afterwards, I rinsed it out. I haven't trimmed my hair since January , after experiencing heat damage . Since then, I have learned that the key to healthy hair and length retention is to keep my hair moisturized, especially the ends. As a result, my ends haven't needed to be trimmed... until now! After My 2nd Trim

Good morning everyone! My trim is complete. Because my hair is healthy, I did not need to trim a lot. I trimmed about 1/4 of an inch in most places, and 1/2 of an inch in the few rough areas. My hair damage was mostly at the top and back of my hair. The hair at my crown is the longest, and I wanted that to be a little bit shorter any way. I think that I may wait 6 months or more for the next trim, depending on the condition of my ends. Still learning!

How Often Do You Trim Your Natural Hair?

Good morning everyone! It's been about 4 months (July 2011) since I last trimmed my hair, and I want to trim it. I am a little reluctant lol, but I know that it is necessary to retain length. I was curious... How often do you trim your natural hair?
