1BlessedNatural: 7 Ways to Save on Natural Hair Products Hey, my blessed naturals, When it comes to natural hair, there is nothing like saving money. No one wants to pay an arm and a leg for their natural hair products!  Here are 7 ways to save on them: 1. Sales and coupons- Sales and coupons are a great way to save on natural hair products. They are a great way to save in general! Check your local circulars for sales and coupons. You can also check out coupon sites. If you are thinking about using one, please be sure to read reviews of the sites first. Also, check the websites of the specific brands of natural hair products you like to see if there are any deals. 2. Utilize dollar stores- You can find many hair products at the dollar store for a little less or more than a dollar. Dollar stores are good places to buy co-washing conditioners like VO5 and Suave. Natural Hair in the Summer Months

I have been hearing many people say they do not want to go natural because of the summer months. Supernanny, Deborah Tillman also expressed the same concern in my interview with her. As a result, I started researching and thinking about the specific concerns of being natural in the summertime. Hopefully, this post will help some of you who are thinking about letting your roots show :-) Moisture Madness - During the summer months, we know the air can be hot, humid, and/ or dry at times. As a result, you may need to moisturize (with a moisturizer) and seal (using an oil) your hair a little more than normal, especially if you stay in direct sunlight. If it is humid you may need to moisturize your hair a little less. You also have the option of applying gels and other hair products that contain glycerin, because they will obtain moisture from the air. Your hair will stay moisturized for a longer period of time. No Sweat- With the increasing temperatures in the summer months,...

Back to Glycerin and Water

Hey everyone,  If you read my last my post, then you know that my hair has been very dry lately. Today, I cracked open a bottle of Glycerin to help me. I did a Glycerin mix a while back . But, I tend to forget about using it. I added 1 part Glycerin to 3 parts water in a water bottle and shook it up. I sectioned my hair and sprayed a little of the Glycerin mix on the section and then applied Shea Moisture's Curl Enhancing Smoothie. Lastly, I sealed in the moisture using Coconut Oil. Now, my hair is soft again. On my next wash day, I will use the Hair Mayonnaise by Organic Root Stimulator. I think my hair really needs a protein treatment. That is another thing that I forgot to do. The product junky (in me) has been looking for another leave-in conditioner and moisturizer when I may just need to do the protein treatment. Silly me :-) lol. It's all a learning process :-) Thank God for that! I do believe that using a leave-in conditioner (with the moisturizer and oil) will hel...

Glycerin & Natural Hair

Glycerin I've finally got my hands on a bottle of Glycerin. I always let my finger coils air dry when I do them. I've noticed that the top of my hair (which is the thickest part) would always stay a little moist. If the humidity was high outside, my coils would be damp. I thought it was the Glycerin in the Eco Styler gel. Curly Nikki confirmed it :-) The article explains that Glycerin attains moisture from the air. That's too cool :-) I mixed Glycerin with water and applied it to my hair. I'm pleased with results.
