Single braid bun Happy Monday, my blessed naturals! Since my hair has been braided, I've gotten a lot of questions and comments about it. The one question that surprised me the most was whether the extensions were my hair. Every time someone asked me that question, I said (to myself) that I thought it was obvious I had extensions in my hair. It wasn't until my niece asked me the same question that I remembered natural hair and shrinkage. Before the braids, I'd worn my hair in an Afro and puff styles, and the truth is the extensions could've been my own hair. Last year, my niece's waist-length hair was braided into single braids. Five of the braids in the back of her hair were created using extensions because her own hair was shorter in that area than the rest of her strands. All of her braids looked like extensions. Singer and style icon, Solange Knowles posted a picture on her Instagram of her rocking a hot pink suit, soft wavy hair, white strap shoes, and a light green clutch. The look was for the Gucci Cosmetics launch earlier this month. Knowles' hair was a little longer than shoulder length and parted down the middle. Her hairstyle is reminiscent of singer, Diana Ross' who is also known to wear wigs and weaves. Lately, Knowles has been wearing different types of wavy wigs, but I like the one above most. I think her unique sense of style has made her stand out in the entertainment industry and establish her own brand. Hey, my blessed naturals! It's been 1 week since I did my single braids for the first time . I've been enjoying the fact that I don't have to do my hair. Yay for protective styling lol! I keep my hair in a twisted bun style, and I use the African Royale Sheen Spray on my hair and scalp. I also use the Hollywood Beauty Tea Tree Oil on my scalp to combat the itching. I spray my hair every morning, but I've only used the oil once. I plan to cleanse my scalp next week. Yesterday, I took my hair down spritzed, oiled, and put it back up into a bun. Since my hair is in a protective style, I've had more time to work on adding more cards to the Ruthie's Greetings Etsy shop. Today, I wanted to talk about putting your own tip in the tip jar. Yesterday, one of my close "friend girls" (as my sister would say) and I went to an ice cream parlor. The server seemed to be a  polite young man who looked like he was about 14 or 15 years old. After we finished eating our ice cream, we asked for the check. The amount owed was a little over $8.00. So, I gave the young man a $10.00 bill and waited for my change. He walked over to the tip jar and dropped my change into it. My friend said, "Well, he got his tip!" After we got outside, I told my friend that the young man reminded me of a couple of photos that had been circulating around the Internet. Single Braids: Double Twisted Bun style. Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! I hope you all are having a great week. Today, I wanted to share a picture of my double twisted bun style that I did with my single braid extensions. It didn't come out quite as good as I wanted because I cut the braids previously, but I still like the style. I plan to rock the bun for the hot weather. My First Time: Single Braid Extensions Hey, my blessed naturals! Last time, I told you all I was thinking about doing my own single braids. This past weekend, I decided to try doing my own single braids. It took me 2 days to complete. back: single braids   The Hair I used synthetic hair: 3 packs of Urban Beauty Super Silky Jumbo Synthetic hair- I liked the shine and softness of the hair, but it kept getting tangled. Rain Day Twist-Out Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! Yesterday morning, my hair was in a defined twist-out, but when I cam home it was in a poofy one lol. I was thinking about getting extensions to give my hair a rest. Last week, I bought a few packs of 100% Kanekalon synthetic braiding hair to do single braid extensions. I've done extensions on other people's hair, but I've never done it on my own hair. So, I decided to practice doing a couple on my hair. My results are below. I plan to do my whole head when I have some time. I thought about going to a braid shop, but I'm not in the mood to have someone yanking and combing through my hair like they don't have any sense, lol. The last experience  was more than enough aggravation. I've noticed that my scalp is a bit more sensitive since I've gone natural.
