The date is symbolic for several reasons. The number "2" is the number of Gigi's jersey for Kobe's girl basketball team he coached called Team Mamba. Today marks 2 weeks since Kobe, Gigi, and 7 other people passed away in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. The other passengers included John, Keri, and  Alyssa Altobelli, Sarah and Payton Chester, Christina Mauser, and Ara Zobayan. The crash occured on January 26, 2020.
