Day 6 with Two-Strand Twists Rod Set

Overnight Maintenance for Two-Strand Twist Rod-Set

  Happy Sunday everyone,  I hope that everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend :-) "This is the day that the Lord has made and we shall rejoice and be glad in it".- Psalm 118:24 If you have read my last post, then you know that I am currently rocking a two-strand twist rod set, and I love it! It is a great protective style. The weather has been rainy and humid all week. But, my hair still looks fine, thank God. I wear a hair net overnight. I still apply a moisturizer and oil to my hair at night and in the morning.  I can sleep on my curls without messing them up. If you are wearing a style that you do not want to mess up while sleeping, you should consider sleeping on a travel pillow.  Yes, a travel pillow! LOL. I read about this idea in another blog, and it works.

Two-Strand Twists Rod Set Results

 Hey everyone, Yesterday, I did a rod set on my mini twists. After removing the rods , I applied a small amount of Coconut Oil to my fingers and rubbed it through my hair and ends. I pulled the curls apart to create my desired style. I'm very happy with the results. Thank God I found another style because I was starting to get bored lol.

Two-Strand Twists Rod Set

Happy Monday everyone,        I hope that everyone had a good day. Last week was a trying week for me. Thank God I made it through :-) I'm glad to have another week to make it a better one.        I was bored with my hair styles, so I decided to do mini two-strand twists again. One of my friends did Bantu Knots on her mini twists, but I wanted to use the Cold Wave Rods for a rod set that I had available. I watched a few YouTube videos, and then got started. I used my water bottle and Motions Wrap Lotion. I took a section of twists and rolled them.      I will do an update tomorrow.

Indication of Product Build-Up

  Happy Sunday everyone! So, last week I co-washed my hair last week. Two days later, my hair became sooo dry. I tried moisturizing it, but it remained dry. I realized that my hair needed a good wash because of all of the product build up. I do not know how some people only do co-washes lol. I guess it depends on your hair and the products that you use.

Does My Natural Hair Grow Faster Than My Permed Hair?

Happy Sunday everyone, Since I've made the choice to go natural, my hair seems to be growing at a faster pace than when it was permed. Every time my friends and family see me after a short period of time, they say, "Your hair has gotten longer!" I also take a multivitamins, so I figured maybe that was increasing my growth.  But, when I did my research and thought about the subject, I found out that my natural hair was not growing faster than my permed hair. Regardless of your effort, on average, hair grows about 1/2 inch per month. This may vary slightly, depending on genetics and lifestyle. I also realized that when I was perming my hair, I would get my ends trimmed about every 2-3 months or when it was time for another perm. But, I trim my natural hair approximately every 4 months or as needed. Because my hair is not chemically straightened or colored, I do not have to deal with my hair being in an already weakened state when I style it. I try to keep it moist...

Ponytail = Low Maintenance

Happy Sunday everyone! I have been loving the current phase of my hair. The back of my hair is now long enough to put in a Pineapple or ponytail. This saves me the trouble of having to Bantu Knot or twist my hair at night. I mist my hair with water and then apply Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie or Shea Butter and Green Tea Moisturizer by Softsheen Carson, and then put my hair in a ponytail. I use a ponytail holder that has been soaked in Coconut Oil. In the morning, I apply the same products and fluff out my hair.
