1BlessedNatural: Win for Girls Told to Straighten Natural Hair at Pretoria High School The Black students at Pretoria High School for Girls in South Africa who said the school told them to straighten their have won their battle, for now.  The ban on natural and all other styles has been temporarily suspended while the school's Code of Conduct is being reviewed. The removal of the ban was announced in a petition that was started to "stop the racism." To date, the petition has gained over 35, 000 signatures.  It also states that a 21-day internal investigation will be performed on the school, policies, staff, and use of security measures for the students. It says,"The group that will review the Code of Conduct must include as wide a representation of the school as is practicable possible." In the school's Code of Conduct the students were not allowed to wear ponytails that would be seen from the front. This means no puffs or Afr...

My Summer to Fall Natural Hair Regimen

Happy Wednesday, my blessed naturals! It's been almost 3 months since my second Big Chop , and I wanted to give you all my summer into fall natural hair regimen for daily and weekly maintenance. The pictures in this post are of my hair after applying products to it. Daily 1. Spritz with water and apply coconut oil   - Because it's still hot in the south, I can sometimes go 2 or 3 days before I need to do this.   2. Fluff my hair out with my fingers- Sometimes, I use a wide tooth comb to lift my hair at the roots and get rid of the parts.   3. Sleep with a satin bonnet or pillow case   Weekly 1. Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse- I mix 1 part ACV mixed with 2 parts water to treat my seborrheic dermatitis. After spraying the mixture on my scalp, I let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes, I will use a plastic cap. Then, I rinse it out and shampoo my hair.    2. Wash with any shampoo I have available - This usually includes a type...

Still Worried About Gabrielle Douglas' Hair?

1BlessedNatural: Still Worried About Gabrielle Douglas' Hair? - Gabrielle Douglas and Simone Biles (photo cred: Facebook) It's 2016, and it's sad to see that people are still worrying about Gabrielle Douglas' hair! If you use the #gabbydouglas or #gabbydouglashair on social media, you will see people going in on the young lady and her strands, and it dates back to the 2012 Olympics . She is busy giving us #blackgirlmagic and showing us what she's been blessed to do, but people are still focusing on her hair? It doesn't make any sense. She's making history and bringing home gold medals. I can only imagine that she doesn't have time to be concerned about her hair doing its thing.                          In 2012, Douglas was criticized, because some people thought her hair was not presentable for the Olympics in London. The 16-year-old appeared on the Oprah Show and expressed how much the comments upset her. The...

My Review of Season 2/Episode 4 of Cutting It in the ATL

My Review of Season 2/Episode 4 of Cutting It in the ATL Hey, my blessed naturals, This week of Season 2/Episode 4 "Rest in Weaves" of Cutting It in the ATL had me ready to change the channel. Let me just start off by saying this: This will be my LAST time reviewing the show. I am not happy with the fact that the it is centered around Black business women who are non-supportive of each other and steadily stab each other in the back. I don't know about you all, but I felt drained after watching it this wee!. If I didn't have to do this review, I would've just stopped watching it. 1BN's Thoughts: Beautii, why are you taking it personally? Beautii feels slighted when Maja tells her she will not invest in her mobile salon and vows to get back at her. Maja and Mushiya get into an argument at Mushiya's shop when Maja tells her that she thinks her behavior at the parade was unacceptable. Both of them are acting like children and claiming the ot...
