Amara La Negra Changes Hair and Accepts Apology from Producer  (photo cred: Amara La Negra/Instagram) Monday night on Love & Hip Hop Miami , singer Amara La Negra accepted an apology from producer Young Hollywood. The producer told Amara she needed to be more like Beyonce and less like Macy Gray because she was wearing an Afro.  On this week's episode of the show, Amara La Negra revealed a photo series of herself called "I Am Not My Hair". In the series, the musician and actress wore different hairstyles like a pixie cut, bob, Afro, and more. She wore a blonde bob to the unveiling of the photo series, and Young Hollywood couldn't seem to keep his eyes off of her. Before he apologized, Juju let him know that he was wrong for trying to make Amara feel bad about her look. The 27-year-old  Latin singer said she did the series to show she is not her hair. Although, I agree with her, I think her Afro has become her signature look. In the first epi...

Natural Hair Night Routine and Other Things

1BlessedNatural: Natural Hair Night Routine and Other Things Hey, my blessed naturals! Last weekend, I did a protein treatment on my hair, but I didn't realize how much I really needed it! My hair sprung back to life afterward! I've been keeping it stretched for the most part to avoid those tangles . I want to do a twist-out, but I don't think I have twist-out strength! LOL. We'll see!  After wearing my hair in a puff for a few days, I like to do styles like twist-outs that allow my hair to curl.  I do this to avoid putting too much stress on my hair and scalp by keeping it stretched in a puff. Plus, twist-outs are GREAT! LOL I can usually tell when I've gone into lazy mode for too long and pushed my puff passed its limit because it will start to look frizzy even shortly after being redone. The more I type this blog post, the more I know I'm not going to twist my hair tonight, so I will probably put my hair in some banana clips after mois...

Hair Falling Out After Braids?

1BlessedNatural: Hair Falling Out After Braids? Happy MLK Day to all my blessed naturals! Have you ever taken out your braids and noticed there was a lot of hair coming out? You might be wondering this: Is my hair falling out? Unless you have an underlying medical condition, it's a good chance the hair you're seeing is from normal shedding. It is a known fact that we lose 100 strands  or more a day. You can imagine how much hair that would be if you left your braids in for weeks or months. For example: Back in September of last year, I put some jumbo braids in my hair. After I took the braids out 2 weeks later, I had enough hair to give a Barbie doll an Afro lol (see pic above). If you think you're experiencing breakage you can do a simple test. If little pieces of hair land on your shirt when you comb or manipulate it, it could mean your hair is breaking. The best way to explain it would be like the pieces of hair that fall when you cut or trim your ends. ...

Black Girl Gets Natural Hair Done Twice in China!

Black Girl Gets Natural Hair Done Twice in China! (photo cred: Instagram/@maryjanebyarm) Imagine going to a foreign country and getting your natural hair done! 22-year-old YouTuber and international college student, Maryjane Byarm got her natural hair done twice in China, and she was surprised by her results! Her purpose for going to the salons was to see if they could do Black people's hair. On November 17, 2017, Maryjane and her sister visited a salon in Shanghai, China. Byarm was nervous and hid behind a pole in front of the salon before going in! After her sister said she visited salons in China all the time to get her hair cut, Byarm responded: "All they gotta do is cut your hair, but they gotta get down and dirty with mine!" Later that day, the 22-year old NJ native's reluctance proved to be a sure sign. The stylist attempted to blow dry and brush her dry hair. Maryjane Byarm also said he commented to another salon worker that he'd never seen ...

Christmas Hairstyles and Natural Hair Growth and Vitamins

1BlessedNatural: Pic taken 11/10/2017 after my hair was banded Hey, my blessed natural! I feel like it's been forever since I last talked to you all! My schedule has been crazy busy, but I haven't forgotten about you. I always read about people using different vitamins for hair growth but regular multi-vitamins have always worked for me. My hair seems like it's growing a lot! Back in 2011, I was taking the Women One A Day Vitamins and my hair was growing like crazy. Recently, I started taking them again but they're the ones that actually say "Supports Healthy Hair, Smooth Skin and Strong Nails" (has more Biotin) on the front, and I've noticed that my hair appears to be growing faster than normal. I had a bald patch at the crown of my head from the last time I permed my hair in 2010. Today, I noticed the hair is coming back in. Thank God! I will be sharing more about my experience with vitamins and natural hair growth! ...
