Actress Uzo Aduba never ceases to amaze me, especially when it comes to her natural hair! This week, she posted a photo of herself on social media wearing a black off-the-shoulder blouse, huge Afro, and matching headband for the Toronto International Film Festival. She also wore her hair in two other styles for the event. Aduba was definitely giving us #hairgoals! Her hair looked beautiful and healthy.

The Orange is the New Black star captioned her Afro photo as "Au Naturel." She was excited about attending the TIFF for a new movie called American Pastoral. The screening for American Pastoral was September 10th in the Visa Room at the Elgin Theater. The movie stars Uzo Aduba, Ewan McGregor, Dakota Fanning, Molly Parker, Jennifer Connelly, and David Strathairn. Uzo Aduba's hair for the the movie's promotional photo was in a top and bottom bun, done by celebrity hairstylist, Lacy Redway.

Aduba wore her hair in a half up (bun), half down style and a lovely red dress on the red carpet for her first film festival. Lacy Redway also styled her hair for the event. The 35-year-old actress became known for wearing Bantu knots as the character "Crazy Eyes" on Orange is the New Black. I can't wait to see what other natural hairstyles she will be wearing next!

But, what about people of other races attempting to make their hair kinky or textured like that of African-Americans? Afro perms, along with other Black hairstyles have been a long time trend in Asia. Because Asian hair grows naturally straight, the afro perm gives the hair a textured look. Sheryl Underwood Wears Natural Hair and Apologizes on The Talk

1BlessedNatural: Sheryl Underwood Wears Natural Hair and Apologizes on The Talk (photo cred: CBS/The Talk) Yesterday, comedian and talk show host, Sheryl Underwood wore her natural hair onstage of the talk show, The Talk. She received a round of applause, and Sharon Osbourne commented that her Teenie Weenie Afro (TWA) was gorgeous. Underwood explained to her fellow co-hosts and audience that she'd done something wrong 2 years ago when she spoke against the actions of Heidi Klum for keeping her sons' Afro hair in a bag as a keepsake. She said the hair was "nasty." Underwood received backlash for her words, especially from the Black community. They were viewed as examples of self-hatred among other things.
