1BN Contributor: Wash ‘N’ Go with EcoStyler Gel Only

 Kimberly J. Childs

If it were legal to be married to a hair product, my spouse would be Kinky Curly Curling Custard, curl definer. I love that stuff! It has loved me, and my hair for years. We're just in love, ok?:) But, every spouse has a flaw, or 2. This one's flaw is the price. Although it does a great job defining my curls, it is around $17 for a petite size. Recently, I discovered a plus sized container of EcoStyler Olive Oil gel for around $5.50. Many ladies say they are using this as a curl definer for their wash ‘n’ go. I decided it's time to cheat on Kinky Curly, and go on a date with my Eco. (That's his pet name;)

Here's what we did on our date for the wash ‘n’ go…

First, I washed and conditioned my hair as normal. For kicks, here is a picture of my hair, no product, just washed…

Next I separated my hair into four sections. I raked a good amount of product into even smaller sections of my hair. I worked my way from the roots, to the ends, carefully. I always finger twist the ends to make sure they are defined. The process of putting the product in took about 20 minutes. Here it is, right after all of the product is in..

I am loving how elongated my curls are, even stretched, at this short moment in time. I will enjoy my dream hair for the next hour, but I'm no fool...shrinkage is a comin’.  It's ok, that's just a part of our Black Magic.

So after 5 hours of letting it air dry, and then going to sleep with a satin bonnet on, here are my results…

My curls have actually never been so defined after a wash ‘n’ go! I really like the look of this. Now, it’s not as soft as it has been with Kinky Curly, but I'm really not so concerned with that. Especially since I've saved around $11!  Another perk, my wash ‘n’ go lasted longer than usual. Here's a picture of my day 5 hair…

With other curl definers, I'm usually in a puff by day 3.

My conclusion is, I am definitely going to continue using EcoStyler Gel for my wash ‘n’ go styles. So Naturals, please don't be afraid to step out on your staple products! Cheat on them, it's ok. You may really find something you like, and save money!
